[Actualizado en inglés]: Pregunté en el sitio de ElementaryOS sobre como instalar Marlin en Debian sin que me pidiera dependencias de Ubuntu y muy sutilmente lanzé una sugerencia que creo podría ser bien interesante.
¿Por qué ElementaryOS en vez de ser un Sistema Operativo completo no es una especie de Shell o Complemento de la distribución que usemos? Para que se entienda lo que quiero decir voy a explicarme un poco.
ElementaryOS es un grupo de aplicaciones, con un diseño minimalista que corren sobre Ubuntu. Y es ahí donde radica el principal problema, que si no usamos la distribución de Canonical, no podremos disfrutar de la experiencia completa que nos brindar ElementaryOS. ¿Por qué limitar a usuarios de otras distribuciones el uso de Postler, Maya, Marlin, Lingo, Dexter o cualquiera de las aplicaciones de ElementaryOS? ¿Por qué no reunir todas esas aplicaciones y hacerlas neutrales, que no necesiten dependencia alguna de una distribución en específico? En Debian por ejemplo, tenemos solamente a Postler en los repositorios.
Lo que se me ocurre es que unan todo ese software en una especie de METAPAQUETE o por separado, y que se instale en cualquier sistema como si fuese un complemento del mismo. De esta forma no importa si eres usuario de Fedora, Arch, Ubuntu o Debian, puedes disfrutar de todas las aplicaciones y el artwork de ElementaryOS. Incluso, la distribución que usemos podría a pasar entonces a ser: ElementaryOS. ¿Me hago entender?
¿Qué piensan al respecto? ¿Nos unimos y enviamos una carta a los líderes de ElementaryOS con esta propuesta?

I asked at ElementaryOS site about how to install Marlin in Debian without any Ubuntu dependencies, and very subtly I released a suggestion that I think it would be very interesting.
Why ElementaryOS rather than a complete operating system could not be a kind of Shell or Extension of the distribution? I will explain myself now.
ElementaryOS is a pack of applications with a minimalist design that runs on Ubuntu. And that is the main problem, that if we do not use the Canonical distribution, we cannot enjoy the full experience of ElementaryOS. Why cannot users of other distributions use Postler, Maya, Marlin, Lingo, Dexter or any other ElementaryOS application? Why do not we gather all these applications and make them neutral, so they will not require any dependencies on a specific distribution? On Debian for example, we only have Postler in the repositories.
What comes to my mind is that all this software can be put together in a sort of METAPACKAGE or even separately, so they could be installed on any system like if it were an extension. This way, it will not matter if you are a user of Fedora, Arch, Ubuntu or Debian, you could enjoy all the applications and the artwork of ElementaryOS. Even the distribution that we would be using could then become ElementaryOS. Do you understand what I mean?
What do you think about it? Why do not we gather and send a letter to the leaders of ElementaryOS with this proposal?
