2 new phones with Firefox OS: Keon and Peak

GeeksPhone Keon and Peak are the names of the two new phones Firefox OS for developers. The Spanish brand made them official a few days ago at an event organized together with Telefónica and Mozilla, revealing many of its technical characteristics while maintaining as unknown some important data, like your price or the date of availability.

Firefox OS

The new operating system, as we saw in another chance, is built with open web standards.

Among the main characteristics of the system that Mozilla itself highlights are the simplicity of development, based, as we have said, on HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and WebAPIs that can work on all types of devices. This will allow, among other things, to have a very important potential base of developers, since these are languages that have become web standards and, at the same time, it will make the Mozilla store have a base from the start important applications, which were already developed using these standards.

They have also underlined and emphasized their commitment to freedom for both developers and users. Developers, for their part, will have the ability to distribute their applications from their own website or the Firefox application store. From the users' point of view, Mozilla has always been careful to respect their freedom and privacy. In Firefox OS you will not have to worry about the sale or use for unclear purposes of our personal information.

Keon and Peak: 2 Phones with Firefox OS

Telefónica, GeeksPhone and Mozilla have unveiled two new phones with Firefox OS. For now they are prototypes, terminals for developers called "developer preview" that, in principle, will not be freely sold to the general public.

The GeeksPhone Keon and Peak are presented as very simple terminals in their hardware, and in which the most representative is the operating system: Firefox OS. It is striking that they only incorporate 512 MB of RAM, a low figure compared to the competition but which could be sufficient if the operating system is efficient.
