2048: A super addictive and multiplatform game

I was watching Arenoso play with his mobile and the game on the screen caught my attention, it was about numbers that have to be joined and they add up 2 by 2. It seemed a bit like Geometry Dash, for the business of moving pieces on a "board."

What is 2048?

It's about 2048, a game created by Gabriele Cirulli, which aims to combine numbers (powers of 2) in order to reach the maximum number of tiles (2048) and win the game. We can download 2048 for free for Android, Windows Phone, iOS, Blackberry and Windows, although later I will show you how to install it in Arch.

The interesting thing about this game is that it was initially only available online and was developed using web technology: HTML5, CSS and JS. It is simple, it is beautiful and it serves to say goodbye to our productivity since it is extremely addictive.

How to play 2048?

As I mentioned before, what we must do is combine the numbers (2 + 2, 4 + 4, etc ...) in a square area using the keys Above, Down, Right, Left. It couldn't be easier, what happens than reaching the final result is not something simple. There are tricks on the Internet for 2048, although sometimes it does not help much 😀

Install 2048

In the case of ArchLinux, we can install it directly from AUR:

$ yaourt -S 2048-qt

And it looks exactly like its official version.

The good thing about the Linux version is that we can choose the language of the game, which for now there are only 3: English, Chinese (or so it seems) and Russian. We can also change the tiles and instead of numbers there are Chinese symbols .. 🙂

Nothing more to add, possibly download Geometry Dash to test it on the smartphone later, we'll see.
