5 reasons to adopt Responsive Design in 2014

From Firefox mania (Mozilla community in Cuba) we get this explanatory image that explains (in English, yes) why we should look favorably on Responsible Design or, as they say in English, Responsive Design.

Responsive Design?

To explain it without many technicalities or complex concepts, Responsive Design is 'that' type of design that we find in sites like DesdeLinux that changes, it 'modifies' itself depending on the screen resolution of the reader.

Suppose you visit DesdeLinux From your computer with a resolution of 1366×768 (widescreen yes), you will see the blog in one way. However, if you visit it from a mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet, you will see that its design varies a little, so that you do not need to scroll or scroll horizontally, only vertically, in addition to the fact that they are displayed in different places ( or not displayed) elements such as the menu, sidebar, etc. All this makes reading and browsing the site more comfortable, right?

Reasons

Reasons like ... Google recommends it and, although many do not care what Google says or does not say, the truth is that it is the most popular search engine on the planet, what he says should matter if you want your site to be more or less visible, that what you write or provide can be enjoyed by several.

90% of people are switching to screens of different sizes to access the internet, which basically means that we access the internet NOT only from our home computer, but also from part of our smart TV (those that have it), the smartphone , tablet, etc.

Designing in this way is simpler to maintain and support, and has a longer life ... you know, what is done well stays true.

And more, there in the image they are shown in a more graphic and complete way.

We are proud that DesdeLinux It has had a Responsive theme for quite some time, currently the person maintaining it is elav and... we are already looking forward to all agreeing to release the next version 😀

Do you have a Responsive Design site? … Do you have any doubts or questions about it?

A site like this is already required by default, almost like every page should have javascirpt! and with the framewroks of now it is very simple.

It would not hurt also a RESPONSIBLE USE OF SPANISH
Thus, adaptive design or adoptive design would be the correct terminology to use, as easy to find as searching for it in Google itself if you cannot translate from English

I agree that the translation to "responsible" as our colleague put it is not the best translation.

But adopting design does not have anything to do with it either, since it does not refer to adopting a design, but to adapting a design to a scheme.

For my part, I think it is healthier that certain terminologies are not directly translated. ee

        adaptive forgiveness

    2.    Marco Martinez said

I think that the literal translation "responsive" is enough.

Simple, learn English, you should know that the best information is in that language and it will always be like that.

    4.    elav said

Very agree with you mitcoes, I have always said it, it is said Adaptive, not Responsive.

That is the problem of not knowing how to read the dictionary of the RAE.

i also adopted responsive design about 2 years ago.

A good manual on the matter would be good, it is making me quite difficult to adapt.

  5.   rawBasic said

The "improvement" to this type of design is necessary, we no longer know nor should we know from what type of screen resolution our content is read.

To think that before the typical one was found for many pages: "Site optimized for screen resolutions of 1024 × 748" or similar. 😛

If it manages to fit aesthetically into the Lynx browser, it would be a milestone.

  6.   George said

Yes, you have to bet on it.

Well, my place It has already had a responsive theme for a long time, although the problem is to adopt the AdSense system so that it does not harm the adaptability of resolutions it has.

Anyway, it was time to encourage the promotion of responsive web page design.

  8.   Tammuz said

responsive means responsive, that is, responding intelligently or effectively to different contexts not responsible (responsible)

  9.   Sasuke said

Almost all blogging platforms already have that, that is, when a user creates their blog for the first time and chooses its theme (template), the platform where I create it automatically integrates a responsive design.

I use the NoScript plugin that makes it very responsive, it responds at the speed of light by not giving the scripts a ball, hehe.
Now leaving the ironic mode aside, it is impossible to fit what fits on a 20 ″ screen on a mobile screen, no matter how hard they try, they are two different worlds.

"Responsive" translates to "receptive", not "responsive."
Receptive refers to reception. Responsive, to the answer.

    1.    Diego said

Or, also, instead of receptive, it could be translated as "sensitive", "reacting." I like it better there.

Google no longer accepts sites that are not Responsive. Except, of course, they are from Blogger. Very good article and information. Regards.
