Miro Video Converter 2.0: first tool to produce WebM video

The Foundation for Participatory Culture (PCF in English) has released the second version of the super simple Miro Video Converter, a free open source tool that converts practically any video format to the open Theora format, and, from this version, WebM, the new open format introduced this week.

In addition to open formats, it supports MP4 and comes with conversion profiles for iPod, iPod Touch / iPhone, PSP, Android, a variety of cell phones and from this version, iPad.

The WebM announcement was big news this week and here's the best way to close it: with an easy and friendly tool to produce open video content. Now it only takes a profile for YouTube and other sites that support WebM and a mechanism to automagically upload videos to be the best tool for end users.

Miro Video Converter 2.0 is available for Windows and Mac OS X only. You can download it from Miro Video Converter website.
