GNU/Linux + BSD: ExTiX 25.12 LXQt Release
These first days of December, we have learned of the launch of the new update of the free and open operating system project ExTiX, under the number of 2025.11.01And according to the official announcement According to its developers, among its few known new features are the following: The operating system will be based on Debian Sid and the preview version of Ubuntu 26.04 LTS (Resolute Raccoon), which will offer Support until July 2031. In addition, when booted into live mode, it allows the use of Refracta Snapshot (pre-installed) to create your own live, installable Ubuntu system. Incorporates the custom Linux kernel 6.17.8-amd64-exton replacing the original kernel 6.17.0-6-generic, so that Refracta Snapshot works; and Refracta Installer replaces Ubiquity (Live Installer). And since, Its ISO file is only 2440 MB, facilitating high-speed execution entirely in the RAM of a modern computer. Finally, among many other features, it's important to highlight that ExTiX 25.12 LXQt, 64-bit, comes with LXQt 2.2 and is designed for optimal installation on systems with or without UEFI using the Refracta installer. Note that in previous versions of ExTiX LXQt, the Calamares installer could be used, which is no longer possible because the current Ubuntu base uses "Dracut" instead of "initramfs-tools," making the Calamares installer unusable.
