Free Software – Thank you Odile Bénassy for four years of service on the FSF Board of Directors!
At the end of August, the FSF informed the entire Linuxverse community about the resignation of Odile Bénassy, who served as a member of the Free Software Foundation (FSF) board of directors for the past four years. It is important to note that Bénassy is a free software developer who has been actively involved in French volunteer groups such as the Association April, AFUL, Parinux, OFSET, Libre en Communs and the Rencontres Mondiales du Logiciel Libre; although she will remain a voting member within the FSF.
Bénassy’s four years of tireless commitment to the Board included weekly three-hour meetings to design, test and refine the process to improve transparency and accountability. This hard work contributed, among other things, to the development of the FSF Board’s revamped governance procedures on behalf of associate members. Read more on the FSF Blog

Linux From Scratch (LFS) is, in short and simple, a project that provides interested users with step-by-step instructions for building their own custom Linux system, entirely from source codeHowever, in more detail it can be said that LFS is a way of installing a GNU/Linux System by developing all the components manually. Which is a longer process than installing a precompiled Linux Distribution. But, the advantage of this method is to achieve a compact, flexible and secure system, which would provide a great knowledge of how a GNU/Linux Operating System works in its entirety.
