The new version of Firefox 72 arrives with deletion of telemetry data and more

Firefox Logo

Few hours ago Mozilla announced the release of the first version of Firefox 2020, since the new version released was the version of Firefox 72 which contains some changes that will undoubtedly interest Internet users. There are also modifications that relate more specifically to companies and developers.

Of the changes mentioned in the announcement stands out that in the new version of the browser, you can completely stop seeing pop-up notification requests. Because when the user visits a new site that sends similar requests, a small icon will appear in the address bar, swaying from side to side and indicating that Firefox has blocked the next notification.

With this, if the user does not want to receive notifications from the site they are viewing, then the icon that appears should simply be ignored. If you need notifications, simply click on the icon and the button to allow notifications is clicked.

This decision on the need to block pop-up notification requests was made after Mozilla developers conducted their own study on user behavior when such messages appear.

Another change that stand out is the default implementation of Fingerprinting lock (Fingerprints) in this new version of Firefox 72.

Fingerprinting is a mechanism used to track Internet userst since works independently of cookies and allows advertisers, businesses, and governments to build an image of an individual over time by tracking cues from their machine settings such as time zone, screen resolution, HTTP headers, operating system type, user-installed fonts and more.

On the other hand, for Linux and Mac users can now use a feature that was available in Firefox version 71 for Windows, Picture-in-Picture functionality that allows you to separate a video from a web page to transfer it to a floating window, always on top others, so you can watch the video while continuing to work on the other tabs.

With this you can move the window anywhere on the screen and resize as desired. The video overlay trigger appears when you mouse over videos with the mouse cursor. It's a small blue rectangle that unfolds when you hover over it. Clicking on the blue rectangle opens the underlying video in the player window of the video overlay.

This feature is designed to work on most web videos. However, some videos don't show the blue trigger when flipped (Firefox only shows it for videos that include an audio track and that have sufficient size and playback time). Also, the blue button is not displayed when the video is full screen.

For developers, Firefox 72 brings Debugger Watchpoints They observe them accessing the properties of the objects and the writes to facilitate the monitoring of the data flow in an application.

Firefox 72 now supports simulating meta-views in responsive layout mode. The browser supports Shadow Parts and Motion Path for CSS, letter spacing and word spacing properties for SVG or the null merge operator in JavaScript.
