The mtp (Media Transfer Protocol) has not worked for many months, I do not know why, but trying to connect a device as common as a smartphone or tablet via usb cable is not possible today in plasma5, something that is particularly annoying to me and incomprehensible the truth 🙂
They are those annoying details that kde always has and that they tend to take for a long time.

I have Mageia 6 Plasma and the mtp works perfectly. In the case of Mageia, you also have to install the "mtpfs" package that allows or gives the necessary permissions to copy files from the phone to the pc and vice versa. Check that the phone is in "Files" mode on the usb connection and that it is not locked.

If it is blocked the mtp does not work because the connection is blocked when the screen turns off.

    Regards!!!
