Yesterday The new version of Voyager Gamers has already been released which is a Xubuntu customization layer created by a French user in order to adapt the system to their needs and with the passage of time I made the decision to share this layer of personalization with others.
It's important pointing that Voyager is not a distribution as such if not as I have mentioned it is merely a customization layer, since it has the same repositories, the same Xubuntu base software. Personally, I have been using Voyager GS in version 16.04 and I was really satisfied with what it offers.
But in this new version 18.04 which is an LTS version brings us new features, functions and fixes.
What's new in Voyager 18.04 GS LTS
This is a variation of Voyager 18.04 LTS, but with a special customization for Gamers, this new version (Xubuntu 18.04 LTS) as we all know comes with a 3-year LTS long-term support, until April 2021.
As everyone will know the feature of Xubuntu is the XFCE desktop environment and brings us version 4.15 of the Linux Kernel. Within the customization layer that we find in this new edition we can highlight the following:
From previous versions Steam has been included as the default application, but in this new edition it is added along with login steam for Linux.
Wine has been updated and the version that we have by default in Voyager GS 18.04 is Wine 3.7 stage + Gallium Nine which are optimized for D3D9, for his part he is accompanied by Winetricks for emulation with configuration scripts.
As well can't miss the Gnome Twitch integration on the system to enjoy the streams.
Among the other applications that have been respected Lutris was updated which is a free platform for Linux games and from my point of view is an excellent complement for both Steam, Wine and PlayOnLinux.
Although the part of including a test version of Wine leaves much to be desired, the truth is that with it you get the new improvements.
But hey, the Voyager developer has his own vision as well as strives to offer an excellent alternative and also according to your needs.
Since he does not always take into account all the demands of Voyager users, because in his words he shares the following:

Unlike regular Voyager 18.04 LTS version, this version GS if you add a 32-bit version so even users of this architecture will be able to enjoy this new release.
Voyager GS 18.04 LTS Requirements
Because this edition is focused on games, the requirementss in order to obtain optimum system performance they are a bit more demanding than the ones that Xubuntu could use regularly for those users of 64-bit processors we require at least:
- Dual Core processor with 2 GHz or higher
- 3 GB of RAM or more
- 25 GB hard disk
- A USB port or have a CD / DVD drive
While for 32-bit users only ask us for 2 GB of Ram at least since the maximum recognized by this architecture is 4GB
