The stable version of PureOS arrives, the Purism system

Purism, the maker of notebooks, and soon a smartphone, powered by Linux, has announced the stable version of its Debian-based operating system, PureOS.

PureOS is the operating system found by default in all Purism products, but until now, it was only distributed under the Rolling Release model, where users install the system once and receive updates forever, this can cause some errors and vulnerabilities pass the filter and reach users.

With this in mind, Purism has decided to create a stable version of PureOS with fully guaranteed components and avoiding software that has not been tested before. This stable version It will arrive installed by default with all the company's products that are shipped from September 24.

"We are making PureOS stable, and creating a new version with the Rolling Release model. In addition to the stable release, we are adding two new add-on packages –amber-security and amber-updates– to make the release more robust.”Mentions Jeremiah Foster, director of PureOS.

Purism mentions that the version with the Rolling Release model will continue to be developed alongside the stable version, although now the first will be recommended only for technology enthusiasts and advanced users who want to test the news of the latest versions of pre-installed applications.

Both versions will receive security updates, although the Rolling Release version will not be tested before. Those who want to try the stable version of PureOS can download it from this link or use this docker container to test it without installing.
