A 17-year-old British boy is responsible for the hacking of GTA VI and Uber

Grand Theft Auto VI is one of the most anticipated open world action-adventure titles and is being developed by the Rockstar studio

The hacker has not shared details of how he gained access to the GTA 6 videos and source code, apart from claiming to have stolen them from the Slack and Confluence Rockstar servers.

In the past week we share here on the blog the news about the leak of GTA (Grand Theft Auto) VI and it was recently revealed that the person behind it was a 17 year old who was already arrested by City of London police on September 22, apparently in connection with the hacks of Uber and Grand Theft Auto developer Rockstar Games.

The teenager is arrested on charges including conspiracy to attack at least two different computer systems. Thursday night's arrest of this teenager may have led to the capture of one of the biggest video game leakers in recent history.

London Police confirm the arrest of an Oxford suspect on a social media channel regularly used for updates on police arrests, and clarified the suspect's age, along with a vague allegation of "suspected hacking," and that the investigation was coordinated with the United States.

Far the authorities have not confirmed anything yet, but several renowned British journalists claim that it is indeed the hacker of GTA

The leak in question is one of the largest in recent history, as it essentially contains the world premiere of the highly anticipated video game Grand Theft Auto VI. Until this week's leak, fans of the series had only rumors about its potential setting (a city similar to Miami, Vice City) and protagonists. Both rumors were confirmed by the leak, which Rockstar ultimately confirmed was legit and originated from a three-year-old version of the game.

Before Thursday's arrest, the author from GTA VI game leak toinitially signed to be involved in a recent massive Uber data breach, and Uber publicly accused the Lapsus$ hacking collective of the intrusion. A

The British authorities did not confirm the veracity of this report. at the time, due to confidentiality rules regarding underage suspects. So if the GTA VI leak could be linked to the efforts of Lapsus$, this link is still unconfirmed at this time.

Lapsus$ hacking efforts have been described by members on their official Telegram chat channels. Most of the group's methods, at least as publicly disclosed, have taken advantage of vulnerabilities in standard "two-factor" multifactor authentication systems, which typically revolve around fewer secure login options than a attacker can explode.

The author of the GTA VI leak previously suggested that you gained unauthorized access to Rockstar source code when accessing the company's Slack chat interface.

If this week's arrest in Oxford is related to the GTA VI leak, the timeline would be much faster than another memorable European source code leak. German hacker Axel Gembe ended up telling the story of his arrest after breaking into Valve's computer systems to download the Half-Life 2 source code. It happened roughly eight months after the leak was first reported.

This weekend's Grand Theft Auto VI leaks continue to make a lot of noise for a variety of reasons. There are debates that are supposed to be there, and others… less so. This is particularly the case for a small minority of netizens who did not hesitate to harshly criticize the visual aspect of the images and videos stolen from Rockstar, spreading their self-proclaimed knowledge by stating that GTA VI, as seen by the general public this weekend , was graphically disappointing.

However, it turns out that visually, for a game in development, GTA VI is pretty impressive. Some developers have taken this opportunity to correct this misconception that a game must, at all times in development, look good by sharing files from some of the titles they have worked on.
