Activate offline mode in Google Chrome

In my country the internet at home is something like very scarce, almost nil, those of us who are lucky have access to the network of networks in our work centers, there we navigate with our computers or laptops, we look for information that we need, we learn , etc.

Unfortunately when we get home the reality changes, if we have any doubts or questions we cannot open Google or Wikipedia and solve the problem, that is why the option to browse offline or "Work offline" that incorporates browsers such as Opera or Firefox are us really useful.

What is offline mode or working offline?

Let's say you are in the office and you open a tutorial here on DesdeLinux, they read it, close the browser tab and that's it, they go home.

Then when we get home we want to reopen that tutorial that we find here, unfortunately since we don't have internet at home we can't access the site, that's where the offline mode comes in.

We activate the offline mode or working without connection in our browser and we can access the pages that we have opened before WITHOUT having access to the internet, this is possible because the browser instead of searching the internet for the page and content that we want to open, searches in the information that he has already opened and has in his cache.

In this way we can consult in our Google Chrome (or Chromium) pages that we have previously opened and we want to consult again without having internet, so we can, for example, consult articles from DesdeLinux, prices of Linio, Arch Wiki or etc, all this being offline, quite useful right?

How to activate offline mode in Google Chrome or Chromium

In Firefox activating it is simple, we go to the File menu and we find it at the end, in Opera similar, but ... in Google Chrome we cannot find this option at first glance.

To activate it we write the following in the navigation bar and press Enter:

chrome://flags/#enable-offline-mode

A poster will appear asking us if we want to enable the offline cache mode, we click on Enable and voila, here I show you:

chromium-hidden-options

Then we restart the browser and that's it.

I hope it has been useful to you.

regards

PD:… You will see that there are many more options that you can activate or deactivate, play with them a bit, there are some very interesting 😉

Very useful if you have a poor or intermittent internet connection.

It is easier to access with about: about and thus you avoid problems when accessing the hidden pages of the browser.
