I am and have always been a big fan of the terminal, I like to type commands, I find it simpler (yes ... kill me ... haha).
User recently Abel he left a screenshot of yours en a comment, in its screenshot a very cool terminal was shown, something like this:
When I saw him, I immediately asked him how he had done this, and now I share the how with you.
Well, to install it (en ArchLinux) is really simple:
1. Open a terminal, in it put the following and press [enter]:
cd $HOME && wget http://desdelinux.net/ftp/alsi && sudo install -Dm 755 alsi /usr/bin/alsi && echo " " >> $HOME/.bashrc && echo "alsi" >> $HOME/.bashrc
It will ask for your password, put it and ready, installed and configured 😀
Open a new terminal and you should see what you see above ... Arch logo with data and such 🙂
Any questions or problems let me know 😉
regards
And can the data be modified?
Of course you can, just add the variables you want to the file that is created in ~ / .config / alsi / alsi.output and that's it. = D
Greetings.
THANKS!
You're welcome, I didn't know your page, seeing Helium One made me want to use KDE again, maybe I'll do it in the near future when it's more polished.
Greetings.
KDE, is very polished from 4.6 we are already in 4.8 and it is perfect I highly recommend it
+1 ... amen 😀
Yaourt Island
Yaourt Archey
yaourt archey3
Better to install packages with pacman, right?
anyway it is better to use the package manager to maintain the order of the system
When I tried to install alsi through Yaourt it gave me problems, it told me that it could not download the PKGBUILD 🙁 ... that's why I put it this way, also, to use Yaourt you need to have it installed, and it does not come by default in Arch, so some Users do not have it installed, and when they put yaourt ______ the system would not recognize the command.
Well, the PKGBUILD that yaourt allows you to do that is edited, the problem is found, it is corrected and that's it. And by the way then it is commented on the AUR site at archlinux.org to contribute to the community ...
Could this be applied in some way in another distro? I always see the deviantart page and it is a 'common denominator' to see this logo in those who use Arch, I am left with the desire for my Mint 🙁
It would be necessary to do it with Mint from scratch and by hand, because I don't know if there is something similar for Mint already developed 🙁
And I'm terrible with ASCII ...
Well, you can, with a text editor and build a bash script, the echo command and some patience. I don't remember where I saw a colorful .bashrc file showing the Debian logo and information similar to this. Apparently it was using cat /etc/issue.net, dpkg -l, seed and other pipes. Although nothing prevents downloading the file and modifying it, perhaps the only thing you change will be the ascii image.
Greetings.
I saw one of Arch made himself, as an alternative to Alsi, yes ... with echo and some instructions to show the computer data is done, I could do the part of displaying the computer data without problems, now, make the logo no longer it's my thing 😀
Already, I just searched the Mint forum and came across screenFetch, it does exactly the same as this script for Arch, only it detects the distro you use. It has logos for Arch Linux, Mint, Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, Slackware, SUSE, Mandriva, Crunchbang, Gentoo, and Tiny Core. Too bad they don't have for Trisquel 🙁
They even have a deb package.

Of course it touches the balls if I tell you that they will probably give me the computer on Monday
Interesting. Added to my list of apps to try 😀
Wow, super! you had to ask to find the answer 😀 Maxwell thanks you for your effort. Now I have to put it into action on this laptop 😉
Too bad they don't have trisquel, it is actually a very good distro, I would also recommend it as an alternative to Ubuntu 🙂 I had the opportunity to test it in the "Slaine" version and it was very stable.
PS: Mint's relative, Pepermint xD
And boy is it, I think the development of the new Trisquel LTS has already started, hopefully it will come out soon to be able to update. Sometimes the same thing happens to me, so it is better to ask until you are fed up and clear up all the doubts you have, so we all benefit.
A greeting.
ohhh I'm going to try it, how's this ... Arch's is great, let me see how Ubuntu's looks;), Many thanks for the link
I definitely stick with screenFetch
http://imagebin.org/200668
I am looking for one for Chakra and cannot find. If they know of one they let me know.
Good that you liked it and you have advertised my screenshot. xD
Personally, I never liked the initial configuration of alsi but it was enough with an alsi -h to choose another and in the end I was left with alsi -t -a -p and put it as an alias in my shell. xP
For those who are looking for how to show the logo of the distribution they use, just create it and specify it in the command and if more information can be added. http://i.imgur.com/0j2vT.png
Greetings.
there is a program to customize the terminal prompt (Bashstyle-ng) go through this link which is the complete article with the links to the latest versions. http://www.vagos.es/showthread.php?t=1200939 Also for debian and derivatives this linuxlogo I suppose it will be in the other distros but that I do not guarantee, linuxlogo is installed from the package manager I leave you an image of how the terminal is http://img856.imageshack.us/img856/2970/capturadepantalla240212.png
How weird… And don't you get hernias with this? I say it because it costs more than clicking
You see 😀. I am someone quite complex to understand ... in case someone can understand me 🙂
Do not be crying, the one who is least understood is me
Oh, and yes ... clicking annoys me, but pressing a single letter and my terminal (Yakuake) is displayed nope 😀
I once tried Archbang (before daring Arch) and it comes with something similar by default. It's called Archbey and it's a phyton script (I haven't found out, but it must be an Archey modification). The thing is that at that moment it occurred to me to copy the script and save it to a usb. When I installed Arch I put the script in, modified it a bit, put it in the .bashrc and it worked without issue. The result is the same.
very interesting! 😀 but how do I uninstall it?
Simple, edit the file .bashrc which is in your Personal Folder (Home) and delete the line that says: alsi
Remember that the file .bashrc It is hidden, if you have any questions write to my email: kzkggaara[@]desdelinux[.]net
I just installed ArchLinux on Friday and I can already see the archlinux logo when I open the terminal… thanks !! 😀
Friend how do I remove it ????
Hello
It's simple, press [Alt] + [F2] and KRunner will appear (that is, the KDE run), then type the following and press [Enter]:
kate ~ / .bashrc
It will open a text file, there you look for the line that has «alsi» and you delete it, save the file and that's it.
You open a new terminal and you should no longer see this 😉
I need to uninstall that completely, the lines of the alsi break the logo in the terminal as in 3 parts I already tried putting smaller font and I don't like how that looks, I uninstalled it but when I open the terminal I get this legend «bash: alsi destination not found »how do i? I do not know how to edit the data that is shown in that in the home, I am half newbie in arch
I already deleted it thanks ..
It is good to have if I install it, it also works for Ubuntu 12 LTS? 😀
Hello, I found your post very interesting, I have two doubts:
1) How do I modify the information, exactly as I do in Ubuntu 13.04.
2) How can I remove this modification from the terminal and leave it as it originally came?
I followed the steps but when I restart lxtermial I get the following:
/ usr / bin / alsi: line 1:! DOCTYPE: No such file or directory

Greetings KZKG ^ Gaara XD huy I don't know if it's me but in the terminal it throws me that I couldn't find the associated url, could it be that it is no longer available?
Solving desdelinux.net (desdelinux.net)... failed: Unknown name or service.
wget: could not resolve computer address “desdelinux.net”
http://trizen.googlecode.com/files/alsi-0.4.5.tar.gz
how is it removed
If you want edit your .bashrc and look for the line that says alsi and delete it.
Or the same, you can remove / usr / bin / alsi
For those who give you a failure of No such file or directory. To solve it you must put the address https://github.com/trizen/alsi/blob/master/alsi, belonging to the official repos of ISSA. It would be this way.
cd $ HOME && wget https://github.com/trizen/alsi/blob/master/alsi && sudo install -Dm 755 alsi / usr / bin / alsi && echo »» >> $ HOME / .bashrc && echo "alsi" >> $ HOME / .bashrc
The problem was that the download linked to a web page and not to the content of the ftp.
Enjoy it !!!!!
And why install alsi from ftp, instead of using Arch way, as it should be?
alsi is in the AUR: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/alsi/ and it has been there since 2010 !!!
I suggest using only archey3
# pacman -S archey3
Then just add archey3 to the end of the ~ / .bashrc file
and that's it every time a new terminal is opened, archey3 will be executed and it will show the system data
Successes, happy 2015
I have copied and pasted, but I get a lot of letters and such.
I would like to know how to uninstall alsi
I have done it in majaro.
cd $ HOME && wget http://desdelinux.net/ftp/alsi && sudo install -Dm 755 alsi / usr / bin / alsi && echo »» >> $ HOME / .bashrc && echo "alsi" >> $ HOME / .bashrc.
Giving a quick read to that command, you should delete 3 files: alsi in your home folder, alsi in / usr / bin / and .bashrc in your home.
And how do I uninstall it? Because it tells me that the file or directory does not exist and when I open the terminal, they appear to me like 30 lines of the same thing.
The binary to date is outdated, it is best to download it from AUR with yaourt, it seems easier to me.
