Android beats Apple's iOS in downloads

It is not a secret that Android has potential, either because it belongs to Google, because be Open Source, or other reasons, the fact is that little by little it has been penetrating our Smartphones and taking over a good part of the market.

Taking into account the aforementioned, I don't know about you but personally this news does not seem strange to me ...

It happens that in a report by ABI Research, it is shown that Android surpassed Apple's iOS in app downloads in the second quarter of this year. You now have a 44% market share now, while iOS is only 31%, what does this mean? Simple, that nowadays users download more applications for Android than for iOS 😉

Lim Shiyan (research associate at ABI Research) said:

"Android's Open Source strategy is the main factor in its success"

“Being a free platform has expanded the number of devices and hardware manufacturers that have chosen and opted for Android, which in turn has fueled the growth of interest from third parties to develop applications for it. These conditions are what explain and enable Android to be the leader in the mobile application market. "

Explaining a little more what Lim said, by increasing the number of Android smartphones, the developers found a potential and a new market on the rise, resulting in creating a lot of applications for these devices, that is something more than obvious. Speaking of numbers… the number of smartphones running Android increased 36% in the second quarter compared to a 20% increase in the prior quarter. Meanwhile, Apple device growth slowed from 15% in the first quarter to just 9% in the second quarter.

In other words, for each iOS device that is manufactured, 2.4 Android devices are currently manufactured, ABI Research thinks according to their statistics, that in 2016 it would be for every 1 iOS, 3 Android.

Anyway ... Android rocks !!! 😀
