Aptoide: Excellent alternative to Google Play Store for our Android

Not everyone can or wants to use Google Play, the Google app store for Android devices.

In Cuba (ignoring the issue of the internet on the cell phone) It is impossible to access Google Play using an IP from here, since the download / installation of applications is denied in the US, that is why we use alternatives such as F-Droid, as well, Aptoide It is another alternative to the control and / or restrictions of Google.

Aptoide

They have more than 1.000.000.000 downloads so far, several million active users and more than 200.000 different applications, not inconsiderable numbers if you ask me 😉

Although not all apps are Free Software (as with F-Droid), it is completely understandable because… so many applications, it is really difficult to see all that with free licenses, unfortunately the world today does not work like that.

aptoid1

Available in more than 30 languages, to install it on our Android device we just have to download the .APK and install it:

Aptoide mobile download
Aptoide website

How It Works

When installing Aptoide we must add some stores, that is, repositories from which we will search and install applications, then it is a matter of seeing which app we want to install and install.

The applications work perfectly WITHOUT Google Services, so those of us who cannot / want to use them will not have any kind of problem. They do not have a restriction policy like Google, so those of Cuba as well as China can install it, use it, update or install new apps without any concern.

aptoid2

Of course, security is a priority for them, they ensure that they thoroughly check their store applications for malware.

Final solution?

While some of us cannot use Google Play, others that do not have these Google services installed by default and must download Google Play to install on their device (Chinese for example), others just don't want to rely on Google anymore.

If you are one of those who for some reason or another do not install applications from the Google market, here we already talk about an excellent alternative, with infinite software and incredibly updated, no obsolete versions ... we can even find trial versions to test and to new functionalities in apps or games.

Between Aptoide and F-Droid I think everything or almost everything is covered ... Google Services are not (I think) absolutely necessary 😉

I have a question, is Aptoide (the app) free? I don't see your source code.

another question, is it true that F-droid is based on Aptoide? (something like that appears in the about of F-droid)

Do you ask how much is the average internet speed in Cuba? Only technical data please do not want to enter into controversies about politics

    Thank you ????

      Average speed?

Well ... ehm, I don't know, I suppose that a 64kb bandwidth is the most common, a 64kb or 128kb bandwidth, I think that is the most common.

Aptoide what is is full of "stores" with applications and games that can be downloaded for free for which you would have to pay in Google Play or another respectable application store, personally I do not think it is a replacement for Google Play. The fact that many stores have their APKs extracted directly from Google Play does not help either ...

What would be needed is a centralized store, or even a set of stores like Aptoide, a way to control these things: that there are not 20 stores that have the same program (with different versions still on top) and give control of the software to the developer or legitimate producer.

It is a pity that there are geolocation restrictions on Google Play, but if I lived somewhere under those restrictions I think I would prefer to use a VPN (SurfEasy or TunnelBear for example offer free plans) and use Google Play where there is at least some control over the applications that are hosted. And F-Droid for other more modest or that "do not meet" Google's developer agreement.

I think that in a low-end smartphone Aptoide would look good, you just have to remove everything from Google and the smartphone would run more fluid because for me what makes Android slow, apart from the bad optimization of some manufacturers, are Google services.

I have mixed feelings, one of the thanks of the official store is that there is "certain" control of the applications, and in general there is not much malware, and the one that is malware asks you for permissions -those that nobody reads-

    1.    merchant said

Well, use F-Droid; gives you the assurance that the software has been reviewed and compiled by themselves.

My Chinese mobile phone came without the Play Store installed and I was able to put it on relatively quickly but I have also installed Aptoide. Let's see what interesting applications I can install on my new toy 😀 Thanks for the post!

Man, did you forget to mention that EVERYTHING on Aptoide is piracy (no, there is no purchase option), except what is free in itself.

Let's see if you also censor this message.

    1.    Marc said

Yes, it is a pirate "store" ...

    2.    befa said

no sir, with all due respect you are wrong, look at aptoide has the ability to add stores (the equivalent of adding repositories in ubuntu) if you don't add any store and use the normal aptoide store, you will have access only to the same free apps as could download through the playstore, not one more, not one less.

      Greetings.

      1.    dayara said

Sure, sure… You and I know that it does. Whatever you say. I have not had to add any repository to find cracked applications. And to top it all, when you can't find something, it is the application itself that shows you alternative links. Ways to guard their backs they sure have, but let's not kid ourselves about what Aptoide encourages.

    3.    eliotime3000 said

      @Dayara:

      We will follow your example.

Let's imagine that I'm using Ubuntu, with the Software Center installed, and I add a repo in which Lightworks and VMWare Workstation are completely cracked. Now, after adding these repos and updating the repos using the Ubuntu update manager, the Software Center shows me these warez. The million dollar question is: is it Canonical's fault that warez is in the "catalog" in the Software Center, or is it simply the fault of whoever created the repo?

Oh, and there is also Android shareware that is really difficult to convert to Warez because they are not as easy to 'crack' as games or 'WhatsApp'.

A blog that advocates free software recommending a store of pirated apps that may also contain malware (they can already say mass, they can't check each app in each repository ...) ... What I had to see, well.

F-droid? That yes. Aptoide ... Well, if you want to hack apps, that's your thing, but if your photos are stolen, it's not your fault.

And what of the Play Services ... There are apps that do need it, for notifications for example. And of course you need it if you want to use Google apps, like gmail, keep or maps.

    1.    eliotime3000 said

Aptoide it's open source. If it wasn't for Aptoide, then F-Droid wouldn't have been born.

It is that it is much easier to move your fingers than to search .. If the first thing the Aptoide site says is:

Aptoide is anpen source approach to repositories in Android. With Aptoide you can create your own repositories of applications, and use the client to download, remove and update them, from your's or others repositories.

For more information, please go to http://aptoide.com.

    2.    KZKG ^ Gaara said

First of all, Aptoide is NOT a pirated app store, it is an app that allows you to use various stores that may or may not contain pirated apps.

If you use the official aptoide store then you will not violate any license, simple as that.

Regarding GMail, Keep or Maps, I do NOT use them, among other reasons because because I live in Cuba, Google blocks their updates from me.

About the other thing you say about Aptoide, they already answered you there.

  9.   dtulf said

Not that we were coordinated heh! I just installed Miui on Defy + and it doesn't bring anything from google so I started installing apps from Aptoide.

As the post says, and is endorsed in a comment, it is not about F-Droid that we know brings free apps, but it is a help both for those who do not have access to the Google Play service and those who want to avoid it.

    Good contribution

I don't see any sense in google play services, my phone only has 160 MB of memory and there is almost never space, google play and facebook services are the apps that take the most memory 🙁

    1.    Fabrizio said

Hello friend, I also had this problem with the internal memory that is very little but I solved it using the Link2SD that you will find in any store.
What it does is take the applications from the internal memory to the external one but do not worry because you will not have to partition your SD and lose your photos, videos, etc. just install it, enter it and you will get a list of your applications and there you enter to which you want to move to your SD memory and thus an app that weighs like 40 mb will weigh you only 5 mb in the internal one and you will have space for more apps.
I hope it has served you and if you want to see there is a video on you tube that explains it very well, if you want me to put the link just tell me and if you could with my explanation let me know.
      See you soon.

Okay, so… I don't buy an iPhone for obvious reasons, so I don't buy an Android device because I don't want to depend entirely on Google, what options do I have left? :

      1. Windows Phone (no thanks!)
      2. FirefoxOS (too green yet)

      Let's go…

Android is my first choice right now, only that, because I live in Cuba, I can't use some of the Google Services, which include their Market, that's why I use alternatives like F-Droid or Aptoide.

The DuBooster tells me that the Aptoide apk (downloaded from its official website) has a virus. It throws me the warning High risk, virus PUA!ApDown.A@Android and its behavior is «User charges».

Within the permissions is the location, access accounts, phone number and device information

    1.    eliotime3000 said

Could it be that said antivirus has detected or knows that Aptoide has the ability to download warez from Aptoide's community repos?

      1.    Fernando Cambranis Chinas said

Well, as I read on the web, it is a Trojan, in what are pears or apples I will hope to investigate a little more about the matter to see if I install it or let it pass as another curiosity.

    2.    rotietip said

The DoBooster looks like a toy antivirus, you should send that apk to VirusTotal and see how many antivirus detects it (if two or three detect it, it is most likely that they are false positives).
For the extra permissions you ask for, I wouldn't worry too much, you can easily remove them installing Xposed + App Settings (with some apps you can make these crash after applying the changes, but so far Aptoide still works just as well for me).

    I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 with a Miui Rom (Miui.es version).
It comes with a Chinese Market in which I have found free paid applications. Before, it used the Gti-apk version, too bad it stopped updating its content from its own application. Another one that I recommend is Apk galaxy since they are constantly uploading new things.

Regarding Android, and without trying to troll this topic, today I read a piece of news that I thought was excellent: Adobe has launched Creative Cloud for Android. On the one hand, this is very good, because it means that there are finally Adobe CC applications for Linux, the bad side is that for now they only work on Android 4.0 or higher and although this version is stable and can be used without problems, it does not offer all Creative Cloud tools. Adobe affirms that they will update the application on a regular basis until it has all the functions as the one that runs on iOS.

  17.   Play Store said

Well, I don't know to what extent the alternative to the Play Store can be, the only thing I think will be difficult to reach the level that a Google application can offer. We just have to wait to see what happens and if it is true that aptoide becomes a real alternative to the Play Store.

    1.    Store said

Aptoide I love it a lot, it's great compared to PlayStore! I also like the Play Store interface much more than Aptoide's. I'm Sorry, but it's like that. Hopefully aptoide is free forever because it brings a lot to users!

I deleted aptoide, because it contains viruses, very aggressive and invasive greyware. I have blackmart that in other times also had worse viruses than aptoide, but aptoide has complete applications, not like blackmart that are starting and then downloading from the application, it is a disadvantage, since most of the applications do not download or do not work. I'm going to try the one you recommend here, thanks.

    1.    Martín said

Ah, the bad thing about blackmart, that since they deleted the viruses they put in, propaganda like crazy and it is very annoying, but good is what it is.

Although google play brought my cell phone by default, I have not been able to use it, investigating myself on the internet I found Aptoide; I thought it was great for the number of apps, the descriptions about them and the speed with which they are downloaded (which does not have Google).
Twenty days ago I received a warning on the screen that aptoide was a Trojan, on the other hand, the phone went crazy, like intermittent, restarting with every action I executed, so I started to delete all my apps, including "Aptoide" And I downloaded an antivirus, I have also reset several times and the cell phone only improved a little, so after doing a lot of research, today I reinstalled aptoide but my surprise is that the antivirus showed that aptoides had a deadly virus. I am very confused to advise me What can I do, please and thank you very much.

Google Play is plagued with applications with adware and all kinds of spyware. Some time ago you found the Hungry Birds promoted on many websites on Android, until they raised the hare as a result of the Prism issue, since it actually included a back door to the English secret services. How many innocent applications will there be like this in GP? They are the Big Brother candies.
And don't tell me that Google collects user data for commercial purposes only. The world is on the way to, if it does not already exist, a globalized corporate dictatorship, which the majority overlook because it is indoctrinated in their value system since it begins to have the use of reason, mainly through advertising, creating a an illusory and consumerist vision of the world, on a planet that cannot support the growth rates that the system imposes in order to function.
I already have the 3rd Android device in my life, and in none have I put a Gmail address, which on the other hand I have but have not used since they began to make it mandatory to link a mobile number. My mobiles have been fully functional with apps installed to the limits of their memory, giving preponderance to those of F-droid over those of GP, downloading them from here when there is no other option through web services that I will not name, and discarding those that require a Gmail account to function, or abuse with unnecessary ads or permissions. Also since I installed Blokada, from F-droid, not a bloody announcement received on account of my mobile data plan.
If everyone did what I would, indecent corporate abuse would be over in no time.
And think about what would happen to corporate data in the event of a serious conflict outbreak: a new and globalized Gestapo. Strategy designed since the time of the Paperclip operation.
But yes, the mass-media seems to like living in the happy world of Huxley.
