Available Debian Lenny 5.0.10 (OldStable)

Despite that debian-lenny it happened to be OldStable, and according to own debian website, would not receive any more security support, many packages available in this version have been updated for the use and enjoyment of its users.

The project Debian is pleased to announce the update to the 5.0th and latest version of the old stable Debian XNUMX distribution (codename "lenny"). This update mainly adds fixes for security issues to the old stable version, along with some serious bug fixes. Safety recommendations were published separately and are referenced when available.

The alpha and ia64 packages of DSA 1769 are not included in this release, for technical reasons. All security updates released during Lenny's lifetime that were not part of a release point are included in this update.

Note that security support for the old stable distribution ended in February 2012 and updates have not been released since that point.

Those who frequently install updates from security.debian.org will not have to update many packages and most updates from security.debian.org are included in this update.

The new installation media and CD and DVD images containing the updated packages will be available in the usual locations soon.

Upgrading to this revision is usually done by pointing the aptitude (or apt) package tool (see the sources.list (5) man page) to one of Debian's many FTP or HTTP mirrors. A complete list of replicas is available at:
http://www.debian.org/mirror/list

Please note that the old stable distribution will be moved from the main archive in the archive.debian.org repository after March 24, 2012. After this move, it will no longer be available in the main mirror. More information about the distribution file and a list of replicas is available at: http://www.debian.org/distrib/archive

You can see all the bug fixes in this link.

+1. I still like Lenny a lot, but in Squeeze there are more packages, more updated, with more options ... well, you can't live in the past 🙂
