As usual, even without the official announcement, we can already download from the Mozilla FTP the next stable version of Firefox, which in addition to the improvements and bug fixes, adds two new features.
Faster access to the most used options
We had already talked about this novelty previously in DesdeLinux, and although some users found it unnecessary, I find it quite useful. It is simply a quick access to some of the options most used by the user, such as the Downloads, Plugins and other functions, as can be seen in the following image
Fast Dial or Speed Dial
Another novelty of Firefox 13 is something we are tired of seeing in other browsers like Opera, Midori o Chromium and it's about Speed Dial o Fast dial, whatever you want to call it. To be honest, it had taken a long time to include this functionality natively.
As is known, in this version the protocol SPDY should be available by default to speed up the loading of web pages, plus now tabs load On Demand, that is, if we had several tabs open, they will not load until we click on them. We will see the rest of the news with the official launch 😀

Great elav, hopefully soon I get to Fedora, I loved FF 13
Downloading from my iPod, then I transfer it to Linux by sftp.
Thanks for the info 🙂
Solusos we have it, just by updating the bug!
The truth is that I did not imagine that we would have solusos 1.1 that includes an updated kernel and a new firefox so soon.
As I said I did not imagine that it was updated so fast, I thought that being in backports + stable the packages would not see the light, but quite the opposite….
Let's see when they get the new interface>.
What if
Yesterday I installed it, it works very well, the only problem is that a news page that I visit daily denies me access since they do not validate the signature, that happens with the user agent in place, if I remove it, I have no problems, any suggestions?
Juer, not a single window of porn on the Speed Dial
That few men are left: /
Epa epa .. remember that we connect from work ... ¬¬
well I can't access by ftp, and when I change the address to http, it throws me to this link
http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/13.0/linux-i686/es-ES/firefox-13.0.tar.bz2
and of course it gives an error lol .. so let's wait for it to come out official
Maybe you can download it with wget
For 32 bit
wget ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/13.0/linux-i686/es-ES/firefox-13.0.tar.bz2
For 64 bit
wget ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/13.0/linux-x86_64/es-ES/firefox-13.0.tar.bz2
By the way, I already passed it from my ipod and I'm testing it
Thanks for the info since in many distros you have to wait.
regards
The new features are fine, but Chrome is faster on my pc.
I don't care if it's faster on your pc.
In which version will they change the interface, does anyone know?
Credit when it comes out for the new Iceweasel. XD
I write from Firefox 13 and it seems me a bit faster than 12.0, at least the memory management is noticeable ... Thanks, Mozilla Inc ...
Yesterday I was thinking about how little they innovate in Mozilla -compared with their great past history- in relation to Google and products like Chrome / Chromium, I hope that in addition to bugfixes it will catch up with Chromium that, although in the direction that the project is not going I like it, the browser itself is * excellent *.
Ubuntu just updated Firefox, and I notice some improvement in speed. Besides, although it is a small thing, I like the new main page. I will keep testing the new version. for now, all my extensions work without problem !!!
