Yesterday was announced in the Mageia Blog which is now available to download and test the beta 2 de Mageia 2, whose final version we can see (if everything goes well) May 3 of this year.
Mageia 2 beta 2 is distributed with the latest preview version of the Kernel 3.3 RC7, and the final version will come with the branch with 3.3.x. It also includes Pulse Audio 2, KDE 4.8.1, GnomeShell 3.3, LXDE, sugar 0.95, and most of the Window Managers available (WM and TWM).. You can see the rest of the applications in this link.
You can download the iso DVD from here.
As an additional note the guys from Mageia clarify that these isos only exclusively contain Free Software. Therefore, proprietary drivers for the Wi-Fi or video cards are not included.
In this distro I want to try gnome 3
This is a project that I have been following since I found out about Mandriva problems, I tried Mageia 1 and I liked it a lot, let's hope it continues on the right track, the only thing is that it is a pity that there is no official spin with Xfce
Post it on the Mageia mailing lists, it may not get done, but at least your requests will be heard (well, read) xD.
It's the good thing about a distro being almost entirely community-based.
If they do a good job with the visuals and the performance continues as well as in the first version, it falls flat.
