Iceweasel 7.0.1 available on Debian Testing

On October 22 he entered Iceweasel a Debian Testing.

Iceweasel is a fork 100% free of Mozilla Firefox maintained by the community of Debian, and is very similar to his father Mozillero.

Iceweasel has always been outdated compared to Firefox, but the Debian team has worked a lot with this new version, keeping it very up to date.

Iceweasel 7.0.1 on Debian Testing

For those who do not know, Iceweasel is a fork of Firefox maintained by Debian, as Wikipedia says and I had been saying:

Iceweasel is the name of a project derived (fork) of Mozilla Firefox, a renamed compilation, prepared by Debian, to solve the demand made by Mozilla that forced them to stop using the name or to abide by its terms, which are unacceptable within of Debian policies. Not to be confused with the name IceWeasel (with a capital W), which is an independent project renamed GNU IceCat, a GNU project to supply versions of Mozilla programs made up, in their entirety, of free software.

Debian Iceweasel is based on a modified version of Firefox, in which Mozilla's trademarks are replaced by free ones, and additional security enhancements are incorporated following Debian's security update policy. Iceweasel is the default browser for Debian Etch and later versions. Thunderbird and SeaMonkey were renamed Icedove and Iceape respectively, in the same way and for the same reason.

Iceweasel still uses some Mozilla-based Internet services, such as the Mozilla aggregate search service and the update notifier. There has also been no change in how the non-free components work or can be obtained.

As always, Debian is committed to providing security fixes for any version of Iceweasel that is included in its stable releases until support for those releases ends.

Debian users can get it from the Debian team page at Mozilla:

Thank you. I currently have a stable Debian 6.0.3 installed, mainly because I don't have a good internet connection to support the constant updating of testing packages. However, I added the mozilla.deian.net repository (backport) in order to have the most recent version of the browser. It's been a little over a week since I downloaded this update.

I ask, is the version that is handled in the stable Debian backports the same that those who use Debian testing have?

One of the problems that I fixed, was a «parse error» that used to appear sporadically on some pages, including access to «Show all bookmarks», as well as the fact that on some occasions, the X (graphic screen ) when starting it. It was a bug that was fixed with the inclusion of the new language pack.
