The team behind KDE SC announced version availability 4.11 Beta1, a preview of what will undoubtedly be the best version of the series 4.X de KDE.
- Qt Quick in Plasma Workspaces: Qt-Quick continues to make its way into Plasma workspaces. Not only does it make the desktop much faster, but it enables greater integration and more powerful applications. One of the core plasma gadgets, the task manager, was completely rewritten in Plasma Quick. The battery widget was overhauled and information about all batteries (eg mouse, keyboard) in a system is now displayed.
- Much faster Nepomuk indexing: the Nepomuk semantic engine has received massive performance optimizations (for example, reading data is 6 times faster). Indexing happens in two stages: the first stage immediately retrieves general information (such as file type and name). Additional information like MP3 tags, author information and the like is extracted in a second stage, somewhat slower. Viewing metadata is now much faster, in addition, Nepomuk system backup and restore has been improved. The system also has new document indexers like odt or docx.
- Contact: You now have a faster indexer for your PIM data with improvements to Nepomuk, and a new theme editor for email headers. The way you handle email images now allows you to resize images on the fly. Every KDE PIM suite has a ton of bug fixes, such as the way it handles Google Calendar resources. The PIM Import Wizard allows users to import settings and data for little piece (the IMAP Qt email client) and all other importers were improved as well.
- KWin and wayland: Wayland's support on KWin has started. Some of the stationery has been rewritten in JavaScript for ease of maintenance.
More improvements can be found in Function Plan 4.11 . Arch users can already test it from the Unstable repositories as they can appreciate here.
elav, do you like KDE, huh?
Normal, it is the best desktop that has given birth to any computer platform, both free and private 🙂
Nahhhhhh, I don't know what could have given you that impression.
I really like that components written with Qt Quick are still included in my beloved KDE <3
The first thing that caught my eye on the screenshot was the power management plasmoid. Perfect!
It's KDE 4.11, that is, KDE> 3 😉
He knows it's KDE 4.11 that "3" you put looks like angry cat (I know you wanted to put greater than three).
He put <3 which means a heart ... xDDD
Let me clarify ... «<3" is an emoticon that expresses affection, it is like blowing a kiss.
I <3 KDE
I clarify that «; ) »Means a wink, that is complicity, that is, it was a joke and I know it was a little heart ... haha
for openSUSE 12.3 users it is already in the KDF repos
Thank you
Off-topic: Does anyone use or have used ROSA Launcher (aka Simple Welcome) on Arch Linux? I have tried to use it again, installing it from AUR (kdeplasma-applets-rosalauncher), but it does not appear in the list of available plasmoids: / Will it be incompatible with the latest version of KDE?

mother of god
Shouldn't the desktop environment tmb come out?

KDE Rules !!!
It is better every time, the battery section I do not understand it shows the level of charge of the mouse and wireless keyboard ???
So is..
Ufff as soon as the first RC comes out I throw myself to try 😀
In an off-topic section… Is there an option to display the NetRunner logo through the UserAgent configuration? It shows me the Ubuntu one 🙁 And if there is no such option, who do I have to send the logo to so that it appears? xD Greetings to all
in my case I tried wiggling it in about: config but not like that, it kept showing the ubuntu logo; so I ended up using a useragent plugin for firefox on the laptop. I still don't put it on the desktop.
This can help you: https://blog.desdelinux.net/tips-como-cambiar-el-user-agent-de-firefox/
It worked for me when I passed Firefox for Windows into Iceweasel.
Wow, I have 4.8 on Debian. How did I go to restinga?
Sorry, I meant to "Testing" is that the Android checker changed the word XD
Good for KDE. I hope this desktop gets better and better, as Slackware has chosen this desktop wisely before GNOME went to hell with its 3rd. version.
112
excuse me, I was testing my user agent
Reach the blue enlightenment, the balance, the Buddha. Done, I just installed Chakra
Hahahaha, excellent phrase to start a post about Chakra 😉
Hope to see you on the forums!
Oops, I forgot to embellish the UA with the colors of Chakra and KDE SC 😀
I wonder how long it will take to get to Chakra as stable, Chakra use it for KDE, and the rest with Arch. There should be an option that allows us to remove our own comments.
I like KDE but it takes 40 sec to start (disable various services and remain the same -.-)
40 seconds to organize yourself and be clear about what to do, right?
But if you are concerned I use Arch with Openbox so it didn't take so long, Gentoo without X to make quick annotations and listen to music without being distracted.
And now Chakra, but I still tolerate that time
KDE looks better every time 😀
When will a backup and restore button in Kontact or Akonadi for the entire KDE-PIM? Emails, settings, contacts, notes, calendars, organizers, etc.
Akonadi now only copies what is live, in share, and therefore does not have to copy all your data and settings.
Yes, I know there is a manual method. But why don't they make these simplifying tools? And that they were also compatible with future versions of these programs.
I suppose that Akonadi will be the answer, but right now it is far from being a true backup / restore tool that gives confidence and security in the treatment of all your data and settings with respect to a PIM.
