I would like to know when the developers are going to take care of reducing the excess consumption of resources, is it an impossible mission?

Unfortunately I don't think that happens. Also, with today's technological advancement, I don't think it's a priority. I wish and if they did ..

What consumes too many resources is the same thing that consumes in other environments: Stationery.
Removing Compiz, and also removing Akonadi and Nepomuk, KDE started me with less than 120MB of RAM consumed 😀

Clarify one thing. If you have (for example): 4 Gb of RAM, KDE will consume you more than if you have 1 Gb of RAM even with the same applications open. Then, if you want to reduce the consumption of KDE you can reduce it to about 350 Mb of RAM (in case you have 4 Gb ~ your own experience) in about 10 minutes by touching some settings (no terminal, it's all graphical).

Then if you want to reduce consumption to the beast you take away the stationery and that's it, although it will lose some of the charm of KDE. Then if you want it to be even faster use only applications written in Qt (or Qt Quick if possible) and forget about GTK.

      Summary:
      1- Disable Nepomuk and Akonadi.
      2- Remove unnecessary services.
3- Alt + F2, you write "oxygen-settings" (without quotes), Enter, and once the window opens, uncheck the box: "Enable animations" or something similar.
4- Remove some (or all) of the stationery.
5- If you use Kubuntu (or Ubuntu with KDE), remove the GTK Apps that are not necessary, then Terminal and: sudo apt-get clean && sudo apt-get autoremove && sudo apt-get update

If KDE still works slow for you ... Check which driver you are using for your graphics card, it is probably the Free one, you should know that these are updated and in theory their performance improves with each new version (the same happens with the KDE versions), If you still see that nothing at all, maybe your computer for whatever reason does not work well with KDE, in that case use another environment (whatever you want). Although that "exaggerated consumption" of KDE is more of a linux legend than a reality, although there are always particular cases ... greetings!

Despite having tried KDE (3 and 4) on different occasions (at least seven times in the four years that I have been using Linux-based systems) I have not felt comfortable enough using it, although it has always seemed to me a good environment (and perhaps, at the moment, it is the most developed and complete of all). The same happened to me with LXDE and Unity (although I know that the latter I must test it more and give it time to advance in its development).

With Enlightenment, XFCE and, above all, with Gnome I have felt more comfortable. Even now with Gnome-shell, even though it is so "green" it has given me a good user experience.

Mutter, at the moment, is far behind Compiz and Kwin, as are qt3's gtk4 and KDE 3's Gnome4.

I don't know if he could explain it to me, but the idea is that I consider KDE the most advanced environment (in many respects) and I am glad that it continues to develop even though, personally, it is not enough or necessarily satisfactory for me.

    Greetings.
