And the famous Fedora remix, Korora, has already reached its delivery 23!

After 3 months since the release of Fedora 23, the Korora team has been to Beta. Waiting (very) patiently for the repositories of RPMFusion are declared stable. We know that these repositories, maintained by the community, provide software that Fedora does not have in its releases, such as multimedia codecs and proprietary drivers.

Normally RPMFusion repositories tend to be stable within a few weeks after a Fedora release is released, but the community has decided migrate de infrastructure which has caused delays in its development and testing ... and in the release of Korora.

Korora is famous for granting us the best Fedora experience "out of the box", with extended multimedia support, super useful pre-installed software and desks with pre-installed plug-ins to extend its functionalities.

One of the main advantages that Korora provides is the support for the most popular desktops, very different from the spins found on the official Fedora website.

The available desktops are the following, highlighting that all are in their most updated version to date:

Cinnamon 2.8: It has gained its popularity for offering a mix of classic and modern, developed by the Linux Mint team.

Gnomes 3.18: Google Drive integration, automatic screen brightness control, Touchpad gestures, improved Wayland support, and more. Definitely one of the most modern and popular environments.

KDE Plasma 5.5.4: Another of the greats in the Linux community. Modern and highly customizable, this version provides improved support for high dpi displays and improvements in resource usage (mainly RAM).

Kill 1.12: The classic desktop of a few years ago, based on Gnome 2 and the GTK 2 ecosystem, now provides support for GTK 3. Resource efficient with extensive functionality.

Xfce 4.12: Light and fast, especially recommended for computers with limited resources (with a few years on top). With support for high pixel density displays and a great user experience.

Korora in all its editions.

The pre-installed software is the typical one that most users want: Firefox as default browser (instead of Konqueror on KDE or Epiphany on Gnome), pre-installed Firefox plug-ins (Adblock Plus, DownThemAll, Xclear), VLC like the media player, pharlap for private controllers like NVIDIA and wireless, SELinux, among others.

In the base system we have Fedora 23, in such a way that we will handle ourselves in the command line in the same way that we do it in Fedora. And we have everything we expect from its mother distro: updated packages, stable systems, innovative functionalities and those development details that many admire from said distribution.

In the package structure, Korora can be considered 95% Fedora, the rest are RPMFusion packages and own from the Korora team.

Korora 23 it is a friendly, complete, easy to use and innovative distribution. Much is preconfigured, which makes it easier for new users to get into Linux and streamlines the setup of a desktop machine for more experienced users.

It is definitely worth a try!
