Available LMDE KDE Live DVD 201207

A few moments ago I was talking about the launch of Linux Mint KDE 13 RC, and now I bring you another news somewhat similar. It turns out that a user (and moderator) from the forum of Linux Mint, you have created a version for LMDE based on KDE.

Is there a next SolusOS or something similar? Well, I don't know, but the proposal is still interesting for users of the German desktop. The user known as schoolje Together with other Community members who provided support, he has been able to correct many errors related to Plasma, Amarok and bookstores gtk. Also, add ktorrent and updates with Debian Testing they do not present any problem.

Additional packages, compared to Linux Mint KDE:

  •  Kid3
  • Inkscape
  • SoundConverter
  • Sgfxi (for those who want to install the Nvidia drivers: ALT + CTRL + F1, log in as root, type sgfxi)

If you notice any problems or have ideas for improvement LMDE KDE unofficial, you can notify it by this link.

Well I really hope it is updated as often as testing and do not abandon the project otherwise we would have a stable distro based on testing, or by god that was what I said 0.0

    1.    Adoniz (@ NinjaUrbano1) said

      remember this formula

stable + testing = unstable out of date.

      XD

One like this was needed. But if it will be like Gnome (without a constant update rate) it will be another "good idea" that will stay in just that. Paint the distro well.

I'm still not too close to LM, but I realize that good projects come out of his ideas. SolusOS, which still does not impress me except for the creation of its new repository (much like launchpad) which I think is a success, comes directly from Linux Mint. Now we could be seeing one more branch of LMDE, now with KDE; hopefully it grows.

One of the aspects that I most admire about free software is its flexibility and variety. it will be good news for those who like LMDE and prefer KDE.

If you say that this version has come out I believe it, but I have found a 404 Not Found when trying to download the torrent ...

    1.    xykyz said

      ok, they already work 😛

  6.   msx said

What version of KDE will it bring? In Arch I use 4.8.4-2 and the system is solid as a rock.

  7.   Blazek said

Maybe I will try it to see how it goes, the lmde project always seemed like a success to me, although now it is in the doldrums.

  8.   commentator said

    It will last 2 months.

  9.   xykyz said

I just tried it and it goes quite badly, honestly, it works a lot better Linux Mint 12 KDE (the RC of the 13 I have not tried it yet)

  10.   Francis said

Mhhh, to use a much better chakra k distro, if not opensuse or fedora, but the others in short ..., they seem like a waste of time.

    1.    xykyz said

What seems like a waste of time to me is to install opensuse or fedora and that in a year the support ends. The little thing I like about buntu is the LTS support ...

      1.    Ivan said

OpenSuse and Fedora with extended support would be the cane. But of course, if they offered such support, the commercial branch of both distros would cease to be profitable ...

  11.   Pepe said

I just installed it and it is going quite well, but it would need to update to kde 4.8

  12.   sieg84 said

@xykyz that's what evergreen is for
    en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Evergreen

    1.    xykyz said

I did not know that there was such a possibility, if I install openSuse 12.1 is hopefully then able to use the evergreen repository? Because if I can only use 11.2 and 11.4 badly, it is still a short support for me ...

  13.   sieg84 said

@xykyz not yet for 12.1 because it still has support, when support ends is when evergreen enters.
and just as a comment, there is also tumbleweed which would be the rolling release for openSUSE.

    1.    xykyz said

that seems more interesting, however, to use a rolling realease, I'll stick with Arch 😛

      1.    Lex.RC1 said

Rolling is one of the most liked advantages of GNU / Linux, although I have not tried Arch, Debian tempts me more with the source.list in testing.

    2.    Lex.RC1 said

sieg84, did you make that 3D image of your profile?

  14.   ghermainlGhermain said

I just installed it but although Mozilla and Thunderbird and the other applications that I install remain in Spanish, the system is all in English and there is no option to install more languages; Can someone give me a help? I'm a rookie rookie ...
