The news is excellent as users of LMDE were waiting for this update as a good thing and it is a sign that the guys from Linux Mint they are working on it. Too bad I already made a few updates with the testing repository (including the kernel). What if I haven't updated yet were the gnome packages

How much will it end up weighing? I remember that recently I read the concern of some users about what this update would mean.

No idea but I'm sure it won't go below 500 Mb in updates.

Edit: I found this on the Linux Mint forum 😀

890 upgraded, 272 newly installed, 26 to remove and 34 not upgraded.
Need to get 937 MB of archives.
After this operation, 171 MB of additional disk space will be used.
Do you want to continue [Y/n]? y

Quite a bit, surely many will find it difficult to make this update, it is almost like downloading a new iso…. At that rate, LMDE shouldn't be considered a Rolling Release distro.

that was already talked about a long time before

I'm sure that together with the Update Pack they will release a new iso, as I'm also sure that, as Cinnamon matures, developers will have more time to dedicate to the LMDE repositories. Hopefully and I'm not wrong.

The iso weighs 1.1Gb and this update weighs 937Mb, practically it is to lower the distro again, hopefully it will take less time for the updates, maybe it would look a little more like the promise of a distro rolling.

The update has destroyed my Linux.

As I said in Com-SL, what is needed is a new ISO, not an Update Pack 4:

    hello2 😉

It is clear that this is the case, I do not know if any more have happened to you but Buejans is absolutely right, a new ISO and from there on there are the necessary updates.

I already installed the cinnamon 1.3.1 from the repositories 🙂

After updating the system, I have had enough problems with the graphics… .. I am itching and itching to repair the problems.

It is logical. These repositories should only be activated by users who want to "break your system" to report bugs 😀

In fact, they do not just lack an ISO, they lack much more work, have repositories that are not late and put interesting things on it, because the distro is no longer asleep but in a coma ...
