Pisi Linux First Beta Available

Another distribution has arrived. Heir to Pardus Linux, Pisi Linux 1.0 Beta is the result of the Anka-Team in collaboration with a blogger well known to all of us (Yoyo Fernandez) and the great work of Sapphire in the artwork.

Pisi Linux comes with Kernel 3.8.13, Firefox 21, Libreoffice 4.0.3.3 and KDE SC 4.10.3, all in 64 Bit version. As it is a very new version, you can still find inconsistencies, for example in the language of the installer or the desktop once installed, but in Pisi's blog they show us how to correct all these details.

In the absence of a reliable image (because I have not been able to download the iso) I leave you a screenshot that the company Yoyo shared with us in G +.

When I saw the logo for the first time it seemed like a distro aimed at children.

You have the logos in other colors and icons in the official PisiLinux repository on github 🙂 https://github.com/pisilinux/playground/tree/master/SaPpHiRe

    Hello buy

    Thanks for the diffusion 😉

I tell you that the correct link to download the ISO of this beta v2 is this

    http://packages.pisilinux.org/iso/betav2/

There you will find the ISO and the files for the checksum, but it seems that at the moment the PisiLinux server is down 🙁

I will contact the Turks to let them know and upload the ISO to my Dropbox and Wuala to have support to share.

I leave you another image of Pisi Linux 1.0 beta v2 «Dream»

    All the best

    Hi very good.

And what would be its advantages and disadvantages? because I see that there are more and more distros and well I would like to know what pros and cons each distro has, greetings.

The truth is that this distro uses the newest meta-package system there is (pisi), which would be its true novelty, beyond that I will not tell you, I do not know if it uses any graphics installer or what packages are in its repositories; although SolusOS is porting the entire Debian repository to pisi packaging, so it is not that too many things will be needed at first, and if not, what matters, packaging is not complicated in this format, in fact they have good tools for that.

I may end up happening in a while depending on the circumstances ... for the rest, if you want to know more, investigate more about pisi parcel, which is its great novelty and difference.

Do you know if it will come with Gnome Shell?

  7.   Yoyo Fernandez said

I have already spoken with the Turkish colleagues, they are working at the moment to restore the server and have the ISO download and repository available again.

However as I said before, I will upload the ISO to my Dropbox and Wuala so that there are more places where I can download it.

I will leave it all in Pisi Life.

    regards

The server is now operational again, you can download the ISO without problems.

Do not forget to stop by the Pisi Life blog (elav left it in the article) to know the post-installation steps in case you decide to try this beta v2 😉

    Excellent work.

Hmm ... a nice KDE SC well implemented and updated every month a few days after the new version was announced; a base operating system with half-rolling update to ensure maximum stability and user-land (user applications such as GIMP, Blender, Calligra, LibreOffice, FF, Chromium, Quassel, Weechat, etc ...) always up to date in its latest version , with an excellent package manager and a good graphical interface for it and with deep roots in an exceptional distribution?
    Look no further: http://www.chakra-project.org

… Available for 64bits and for 64bits xD

      1.    msx said

        And, they are modern distros.

    2.    pandev92 said

If it weren't because if you want some non-famous gtk program, you have to compile, it would be a great distro :).

      1.    msx said

The compilation if you want is automatic but if you prefer to put your hand and compile it to your liking you can do it too.
It does not have Gentoo fine tuning (it is not a source distribution) but CCR allows you a certain game that in other distros is definitely impossible.
Besides being a KDE distro compiled without dependencies or GTK embeds, the base installation (a fresh install) is typically 1 gig lighter than the rest of the KDE distros that also incorporate all kinds of GTK stuff. 😉

        1.    pandev92 said

It is automatic if it is in ccr, but many times the package is not there and you have to resort to aur, but many times the dependency is not there and you either compile it or steal it from the archlinux repositories (not a good thing).
On the ram ..., no more or less saves 200 or 300 Mb of ram ..., I remember that leaving chakra on for a month in a row, I consumed between 1,5 g / 2 g, kubuntu reached a maximum of 2,5.

Excellent Pardus I always liked that layout. Hopefully everything goes very well for this distro, greetings!

  13.   likewho said

Apparently the only "bad" thing about this distro is that it uses the Faenza (or Faience, I don't know) icons by default.
I think it's a nice theme, but "as they don't 'go' with KDE".

Is it a difficult distribution to learn or is it on par with Debian?

I do not understand well, the multipaquetería .PISI

I've been testing the beta version for a couple of days and it's pretty good, it works smoothly and quickly. I have also used the package manager both the GUI and the terminal and they have worked fine so far. The default installation leaves the multimedia, internet and office automation functional. What if you have to configure the language and keyboard layout in the control panel and the locale file (/etc/env.d/03locale), I have to install some missing language file so that it correctly shows the names in the applications and files . The gtk applications are shown in the oxygen style, being pleasing to the eye. One detail, if you need to customize the use of the touchpad you can install the GUI application or edit the 50-synaptics.conf file.

The repository brings a good number of packages to work, I imagine it will increase when the final version is released.
