The 17th version of Mozilla Firefox, the best browser of all time, an application that, although it has had ups and downs with me, continues to prove its worth.
Now Firefox is more social, as it includes Social API with support for the Facebook Messenger. To activate this option we only have to access this page, and of course, have an account in Facebook.
Another novelty for users is Click to play, which is nothing more than the option to allow or not (that is to authorize) the operation of certain extensions that could be vulnerable. Has anyone said Flash Player? Ohh yeahh !!!
This option is not activated by default, so we will have to resort to About: config, search for plugins.click_to_play
and put it in True.
Another of the changes shown in the release notes, are bigger icons in awesome bar and the end of support for Mac OS X 10.5. The developers have also received their own, among other things, improvements in the tools Web Console, Debugger y Developer Toolbar.
Now at least I have to go to Beta ...
this is the following ESR
It looks very good, we just have to hope that it is in the Arch repos. Do you know when there will be a version for kde? Thanks for the info.
I just did a "pacman -Syyu" and it is available now.
Activate this new feature and it works very well ... Although, honestly, I rarely go to Facebook and when I do, the last thing I open is the XD chat
It was speculated that this version could well have been for KDE, there is nothing left but to "fiddle" with beta 18.0. regards
A new version of firefox is always good news .. updated and working….
I have Iceweasel 17 a long time ago xD: p
It is what it has, there are times when it is impossible to fight against versionitis xD
and we must also add that in android support for ARMv6 is added
I am waiting for you in Chakra.
I still do not update it in slackware, and I do not use it daily, I think that at least SRWare iron, easily turns firefox, instead of adding functionalities, that optimize the ones it already has. regards
In OpenSUSE we already have it too 😀
It runs excellent, although the social api personally I have no use (I do not have acebook) but its operation looks interesting, I wonder, is there something similar but for twitter or google + ???
For G +, I highly doubt it. They won't release the entire API until next year, they want us to use the official app long enough to improve it.
Now, Twitter ... Hmm, not a bad idea, although take into account:
1) The increasing restrictions of the Twitter API.
2) The number of FF users.
They could already put Twitter and Identi.ca, just in case the first one fails 😛
Thanks for the information, it is my favorite browser above all…!
In slackware, Seamonkey, Thunderird, and Firefox were updated, I think the previous version of FF was faster. regards
I tested it on Arch, and it performs very well 🙂 It has abnormal CPU consumption, I don't know why: S
Arch does not let me activate the social layer of facebook.
neither with version 17 of the repositories, nor by downloading the official version of the page.
In Ubuntu and Fedora it did not put any problem.
I do not know what it could be.
I updated it and I don't know if it's my imagination but ... this version feels faster compared to the one I came from (ten) now everything is going like a lightning bolt, maybe those who go up number by number do not feel it but now I notice a considerable difference, and it's weird because something like this has never happened to me.
