De ZevenOS Neptune ya we have spoken in DesdeLinux, an excellent distribution based on Debian which now reaches its version 3.1 with interesting improvements and news.
I start by saying that Neptune 3.1 is now available on Debian 7, and these are its news:
- Kernel 3.9.2.
- KDE SC 4.10.3 with personalized notification center.
- Support for the f2fs filesystem.
- Updated Gparted to support newer filesystems and load faster.
- Fixed zevenos-hardwaremanager.
- LibreOffice 4.0.3
- Knetworkmounter is added
- Apper is the default Software Center.
- amarok 2.7.1
- Kdenlive 0.9.6
- Multiarch enabled
This version includes Kernel 3.9.2 and is exclusively intended to work with 64-bit processors. It also contains the latest and best pre-installed multimedia codecs and flashplayer. For the diagnosis of the wireless network it has Wireshark, Aircrack-ng and kismon.
Neptune also has support for the use of zram in the kernel that creates a compressed swap file in memory for low-resource computers. It can be activated by installing the package neptune-zram-config.
If you want to download it:
What I love about this distro is the font smoothing that it has, it looks perfect 😀
To me, among other things, the update of their packages on Debian 😀
With such up-to-date programs, it's hard to believe it's Debian-based 😮
What I wonder is how they installed steam, the last time I tried it, I couldn't ...
Is this distribution only for music lovers or can anyone install it? I would like to try it, but I have never tried KDE with Debian and the issue of repositories throws me back a bit, although I have read in this work that it comes preconfigured for many things. Can you expand a little more information?
This distro is for mortals so it shouldn't be more troublesome than installing linux mint for example. It's really worth a try, it's a combination of wheezy's stability along with updated packages and the latest KDE, the only bad thing I see is its availability only for 64 bits.
From what I see it looks good, I'll try it and then I'll see how it is ...
PS: Someone around here in the forum has tried it or is still using it?
Regards!
Che, by the way ... from the corner of your page it says that to access the blog I use Windows ... and I'm using Crunchbang ????????????? what the hell!!! finally my computer did #!
configure your useragent.
Heh ... but I'm using iceweasel and I don't have any extension installed to modify the useragent ...? could iceweasel have Windows configured by default? ... nah, I don't think so.
Like me, the corner is crazy ... I enter and say that I use debian, one click and it says Ubuntu, another click and it says Win ... heh ...
The page has been with problems for a few days, in fact they published a note about it (https://blog.desdelinux.net/posibles-problemas-con-el-blog/)
Thanks cat for clarifying, greetings ...
The problem I see is that it is not rolling release, so right now I am in aptosid, but it looks good for those who want to abandon the ubuntu philosophy and want to have everything up to date
I feel that this could be the distribution that I can install on my brother's computer (pirate windows = virus and blue screens).
I want to take the opportunity to ask if someone knows your requirements, because on the web I could not find them.
Is it possible to convert the .ISO to live cd?
I love this distro, really the work they do to have KDE up to date added to the stability of Debian Wheezy seems to me to be a job worth praising, hopefully the community and the project continue as they are.
I have a partition on my disk. In one part is Windows 7 (I hardly use it) and in the other, Linux. I have installed Neptune 3.1, but the grub does not show windows. Does anyone know how I have it
I have a partition on my disk. In one part is Windows 7 (I hardly use it) and in the other, linux (Manjaro). I have installed Neptune 3.1, but the grub does not show windows. Does anyone know how I have to install Neptune so that windows recognize me? Thank you
I haven't tried it but maybe you have to install the os-prober, then do an update-grub, maybe that will work for you. Be careful, I have not tried that distro so take the advice with tweezers 😉
I am testing this operating system in live and the truth is that it is convincing me a lot, unlike debian this OS detects almost everything at first and my pc is quite recent, its style reminds me a lot of a gtk environment, and the. deb have always convinced me more than the rpm, I'm even considering changing fedora for this distribution.
I have a laptop .. does it recognize bluetooth? : / because I installed debian testing with KDE and I couldn't get it to work, I use opensuse and I have no problem with that .. but I miss debian xD
Friend, I had a problem like this once, and I solved it by installing.
apt-get install firmware-realtek
apt-get install firmware-atheros
and the blue recognized me .. if you use kde you should install the other programs like:
bluedevil and bluez. this worked for me when I installed Debian on a notebook.
Now I use Kubuntu 12.04. (I walk faster) anyway.
bye.
There is an incongruity at the beginning of the text: "An excellent distribution based on Debian ..."
Come on, one or the other.
Don't be a Troll. The fact that Debian does not meet your tastes and preferences does not mean that it is an excellent distribution, I dare say, with much more path and prestige than the one you love so much: Archlinux.
Hahaha, but if I don't poke you every so often, it's not funny! ; ¬D
In addition, and this being serious, we are in 2013, it would be good if they got back on the right track and stopped packaging the software as they are sung to them and follow upstream wishes even a little bit, which would result in an easier distribution of use in any mixed environment instead of having to go through hours reading unnecessary documentation to see how they sing how to install what files in what directories and how to configure the application 😛
(and you can't deny that this is so! just look / etc ...)
Hmm .. I don't understand what you mean .. Generally in / etc / is where the applications are found, whose binaries run in / usr / bin or / usr / sbin and whose components are housed in / usr / share .. I don't use Arch for a while, but isn't it the same in both distros? Or did Arch change that?
Hi, see, I have a problem, I can't install this system, I don't know why, I follow the little one; the guide that comes with the system and nothing, when restarting it marks errors, some help please
