Bricscad 12 for Linux available

Bricsys NV just released version 12 of Briscade, that alternative to AutoCAD (compatible with this obviously) and that since version 10, it works natively with files DWG.

Briscade it is divided into three versions: Classic, Pro y Platinum. Each of these versions is priced differently, and obviously the more features / options a version has, the more it will cost.

This new version brings improvements regarding 2D modeling, 3D modeling (even the Pro version has to model 3D directly), new element of the user interface called «Quad Cursor«, Which will allow 3D modeling with far fewer clicks than before. There are many more details that can be found in this version, but I honestly do not understand them, my work does not have much (or nothing) to do with 2D / 3D modeling, so I am not familiar with this type of software.

The price varies (as I said before), although you can download this software with a trial period of 30 days totally free, both in .DEB, As in .RPM, As in .TAR.GZ. In terms of languages, it is currently available in 17 languages 🙂

Well that, this although it is an alternative to AutoCAD It is still paid, it is an alternative to the end, it benefits us as it is possible for Linux users to use it 🙂

regards

I think it's great, in my work as a process engineer, CAD software is very important, and when using Linux, the problem was that, since version 11 of BricsCAD I have not had to touch a Windows machine again to use AutoCAD, the compatibility of the .dwg created with BricsCAD with AutoCAD is incredible, it is a pity that the latter changes every year the .dwg specifications and it becomes incompatible even with its own old versions.

BrcisCAD uses wxgtk to draw its widgets, so it integrates well with Gnome and Xfce desktops, one downside (besides the price), is that there is no tar.gz or tar.xz to install it in ArchLinux without so much complication (like snooping in rpm or deb package)

This version first came out for Windows, now for Linux, they say it will also come out for Mac.

There is also LibreCAD which is free. Although I couldn't tell the "internal" differences because I don't use this kind of software either

I have already written and published an article on the adoption of the DWG format in free applications, if you are interested I will give you a copy to publish it on your blog. I assure you that it is quite interesting 😀

Is it hotmail? The one that comes out here?

I send it to you as html, you then adapt the format as you see fit.

Excellent BricsCAD 12… I am using it on Windows and Linux. As claimed by an AutoCAD user for over 25 years. However, some commands and tools still need to be improved, because it does not matter that in some aspects it is compatible with AutoCAD 2010; rendering, for example, is still at the level of AutoCAD 2000 and perhaps AutoCAD 14. Anyway, to render my 3D models created in AutoCAD and BricsCAD I go to 3DSMax.

I currently use it in PCLinuxOS, and it works very well in 2D but I have many problems with just putting it in 3D I already downloaded the Driver for Intel HT and it still has errors, I used it in Ubuntu 12.1 and the failure is the same, I am still very new In Linux, I will learn to solve that error, Another very good CAD program not open source but if Free is Draftsight it also works in .DWG format but only in 2D it is very good light and fast, my designs are still very simple to that of a professional architect but as far as I have seen the way of working is the same, I highly recommend it is available for Ubuntu, Fedora, Windows and OSX
