Goodbye Bodhi Linux?

So what announces Jeff Hoogland, lead developer behind the Bodhi Linux project:

I am sure that anyone who has been following the Bodhi Linux project has noted that the release of the latest version 3.0.0 has not happened in a timely manner. Due to a variety of reasons I would like to announce today that I will no longer be actively developing Bodhi Linux.

As if this weren't enough, it would seem that not only is Jeff leaving the team, but none of the original developers are left:

At this moment, all the other original members of the team left.

Possibly, this is one of the reasons why Jeff has decided to step aside. It is not easy for a single person to take charge of building a complete and quality distribution, like Bodhi Linux.

Campaign for Bodhi Linux

If you are reading this and are interested in taking over the project, Jeff has requested that you contact him. All Bodhi related code can be found on their page GitHub And, as stated in his farewell post, Jeff will be more than happy to help them out and explain how things work as they get started.

The truth is that if you do not survive, we will miss this excellent project. It is one of the few distributions that uses the ultra-light and powerful Enlightenment desktop environment by default. For this reason, Bodhi is, without a doubt, a reference among lightweight Linux distributions. The minimum system requirements include 128 MiB RAM, 2.5 GB of hard disk space, and a 300 MHz processor.

So you know, if you want the project not to die, there is time until April 2015, the month in which the hosting of the Official Site of the project.

it was to be expected ... I was not interested in the project either
    damn fragmentation

Before starting, I want to clarify that my profession is not Health; nothing to do is systems or computing; that is, I am a user.
Fragmentation has allowed many people to generate valuable input especially on practical things. We should not look at it as a weakness but as an opportunity and almost a strength because Linux is inclusive and gives us many options to choose from. Surely what is necessary is who coordinates the activities to generate stronger options especially in programs.
Regarding Bodhi, although I have several versions of Linux installed, I found it very good and the efforts of its creators are worth acknowledging.

Try something with the HirenBoot (http://www.hirensbootcd.org/), create a bootable that starts a WinXP that comes in the image 😉

      Salu2.

Normally I flash from FreeDOS, but I had an Acer 5741 that used a dark ritual to flash it.

Turn it off completely, remove the battery
put the file in an empty usb, connect it
press Fn + Esc and press power, release Esc….

I can't remember right, google it but it was kind of twisted.

When I had to do a factory reset of a Dell Inspiron that came with 64-bit Windows XP, the truth is, it was practically like setting fire with a couple of wooden sticks. The truth is that before it was completely horrible to do such a factory restoration.

Well I was in the first steps of bodhi in the forum and helping in pt.

Then I left it not because of a question of ideal or something but because there are others and I need to adapt my pcs, some softs were not compatible.

Bodhi is a very good distro and I like enlightenment, the only thing that the e 19 does not have ecomorph.

It's a shame if it ends, really.

Aside from the issue of Bodhi's possible disappearance, I like E19 and its interface. The only thing that bothers me is that nasty dependence on econnman to connect to the internet. A few days ago I wanted to install Archlinux using the Evo / Lution CD and everything was fine with E19, even the network manager part. It's the only thing I hate about Enlightenment, otherwise it's a DE beauty.

Hello I would like you to make a post about Canaima Linux 4.1 Stable that is now available to everyone, and your opinions.

    Thanks and regards.

It is sad to see how a distro disappears, but looking from the point of view he deserves it since he has contributed his two cents to the ultra-defragmentation of ubuntu / deb.

That's nice one less. Instead of making so many useless distros like this, they should give support to those known as ubuntu or linux mint, otherwise GNU / Linux will never be an operating system that can really compete with Windows or Mac.

    1.    elav said

Personally, I don't want it to compete with Windows or Mac, on the contrary, I prefer GNU / Linux to have compatibility in some way with all the other OS ... if possible, have the same tools.

supposedly Windows nt is (or was) compatible with posix.

There are Ubuntu distros with all desktops and so I suppose it should be one with E18. But it is quite easy to install E18 / 19 on buntu or Mint and by doing it next to the desktop environment you will have a set of useful software that you don't have just installing Enlightenment.

Despite its limitations, I am a fan of Enlightenment and now have it on two machines, but with Manjaro. I installed Bodhi a couple of times and tried a few more times, but the truth is that it bothers me to have Midori who does not have the abilities of Firefox and on top of that it is loeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee So the only program that comes with Bodhi by default is one that changes right away. Installing from the web is read too, but at least Bodhi had the "package manager" to install as well.

But the worst thing about Bodhi has been Ubuntu's outdated repositories. The last time I had Bodhi installed I tried to use xfburn which did not have the facilities of the latest version and had to change computers to do it.

Manajro's "Community Edition" with Enlightenment is the best for E18: Arch base with updated repositories, access to the AUR and lots of Agust themes. It is sad to see the end of a project, but there are better light distros (even with Ubuntu bases) and at least one very nice distro with E18: Manjaro.

It's a shame the project ends. Unfortunately I know very little about programming. If I knew more, I would have encouraged myself to contribute to the maintenance of the bodhi project. For me it is one of the best distros. And of course, for me, gnu / linux is better than ms-windows in many ways. Once you learn to use it, such as its functionality and the freedom it has for many issues that closed-source software does not allow, you will never want to leave it.

I have a mini lap msi u135 I installed the lubuntu, and every so often the internet page crashes or goes out, this is normal or what happens and also I have not been able to make it recognize the wi fi printer.
I think I'd better go back to Zorin 9 is more stable or mint 17.
    Lubunto disappoints me …….
