- Canaima GNU/Linux continues to be a Free Software distribution that can be shared, downloaded and used without any restrictions.
- One of her main objectives is to be employed, mainly within the computers of the National Public Administration of her country of origin (Venezuela), both in the administrative areas and in the educational sector.
- It includes a fresh and beautiful visual theme under the GNOME, XFCE and KDE Plasma desktop environments. Fully adapted to the new branding of said Distribution.
- For editions (flavors) with GNOME and KDE it is available for 64 Bit computers. While, for editing with XFCE, it is available for both 64 and 32 Bits.
- It incorporates ZSH (Z shell) as a new Shell, instead of the traditional Bash Shell. Because, ZSH is an extended version of the Bourne Shell (sh), which includes modern features, plugin and theme support, and much more. Which will benefit the users.
For now, and probably due to the recent announcement, there is no more information about what's new and all of which applications are installed, and in what version number. However, in our previous post, where we thoroughly evaluated its Beta version, we mentioned the following:
- It is based on Debian-11 (Bullseye).
- Use Kernel 5.10.0.9
- Use LibreOffice 7.0.4.2
- Use Firefox 99.0.1
- Bring Thunar 4.16.8
- An approximate RAM consumption at startup around +/- 512 MB.
- It includes a dark theme and a light theme.
So, surely, these will still be included, but in more recent versions.

For download, you can explore its official download section, to directly download ISO files or by using torrent files. Keep in mind before downloading them that their ISOs have the following size (weight) depending on the chosen Desktop Environment:
- GNOME: 2.7 GB
- KDE Plasma: 3.2 GB
- XFCE: 2.5 GB
Most likely, in the short term they will release ISO files with Cinnamon and Mate, since these are usually the traditional Desktop Environments preferred by said Distribution and its Community.
