Card Generator

Hello friends, the other day I saw a post dedicated to resources for learning how to work with Inskcape de elav and I remembered a tool that I developed together with Antonio Sánchez to generate IDs for distribution Picaros Picaros «Diego», and that it can also be used in other GNU / Linux distributions (as long as you have Gambas3.4.2 or higher version installed).

This program is based on using templates made with inkscape To which a series of text fields have been added that will be automatically filled in by the program to generate the cards (not just one, but all of the list you give it, all automatically).

The data is entered directly into a form or you can "paste" it from another source (for example a spreadsheet).
The photographs for the cards can be taken from the webcam or passed to you in the same data collection form in .png or .jpg format

Adding photo from webcam

As the templates are made in .SVG format, they can be modified by Inskcape, and adapted to any need.
You can also access a gallery of templates that are in a google drive folder, where you will find new templates and "blank" templates to create your personalized cards.

The templates that are implemented are for schools (library, sports, dining room, etc).

The program finally generates the cards in .pdf format and on A4 size sheets with 8 cards each.

I made a little blog http://generadorcarnets.blogspot.com.es/ where I uploaded video tutorials, screenshots and a small forum for users to comment on bugs, improvements, etc.

The source code of the project is hosted in code google: http://code.google.com/p/generadorcarnet/

The program has an update system that when I upload a new version, it alerts the user what the improvements are and if they want to go to the download site to reinstall it, so you will always have the latest version !!!

Note:
I also did two other similar programs: Diploma Builder y Border maker, but I'll tell you about those another day 😉 ...

I think that for the printing company it is better that the cards are glued and one row up and another down. Thus cutting them is easier and the paper is used well.

I understand that sticking them more, but that one that some up and others down I don't see any sense. How would you save paper like this if they are still rectangular?

As the printer explained to me (?) The cards / cards are usually different at the top and bottom (for example, top blue and bottom white). So if they all go in the same direction, an imprecise cut would leave a line of another color. Not to mention that the ink can run and etc. So blue to blue, white to white.

Hello, I've been looking for something similar for a long time. Will it be possible to support the CR-80 format, used for credentials and to be able to print directly to an Evolis printer? Currently the solutions that I have found (to print credentials from cvs and instantly (with long waiting lines at events) are proprietary, which increases costs and generates ethical dilemmas. Thank you for the development!

      @Lucca
I do not know that format (CR-80), you would have to inform me of its specifications.
I don't have an Evolis printer either, so I can test what I do. you have one? Does it work with linux? If so, we could get in touch to do the tests and add this option to the program.

In the r35 revision, the CR-80 support is already included, you just need to do some tests to confirm that it prints correctly.

The idea is fantastic. Let's see if I can port this application for Windows (with Visual Studio so that it doesn't generate so many problems with Gambas).

I already explained how to run gambas programs in Windows in another post ( https://blog.desdelinux.net/gnulinux-y-gambas3-ejecutandose-en-windows/ ), except the capture by webcam, the rest would work without having to modify any line of the program !!!

Panita as soon as I can I will help you with this program since I was about to create one like that, but since you already have it I want to help you in its creation and in giving support, I seek your approval beforehand since two brains think better than one and so anyone can use it

I have created a new video where I explain how to create new cards or customize them.
