I bring you this post related to the instant messaging client Empathy, as you know Empathy is an excellent manager of chat of social networks (Facebook, Google Chat, Messenger, among others), the same one that comes pre-installed in Ubuntu giving an excellent integration between the two. |
Among the novelties of Empathy, we find that we can change the theme of the chat window, however we only find 5 default themes, which although it shows a good style, we always seek to improve our Ubuntu -personally keeping a proper balance between performance and visual appearance -, that is why in this post I will show you how we can change the theme of Empathy, we must take into account that Empathy allows us to install themes from Adium (a free chat manager), the installation of the themes is very simple and we can choose of many existing ones, for which we only have to do the following:
1.- We go to the page Adium.
2.- Followed by this, we go to the following path: /home/(user)/.local/share/adium/message-styles/, if the folder does not exist (as in my case) we can create it without problems.
3.- We download the theme we want from the Adium page, the theme will be downloaded in a .zip file, the same one that we must unzip and copy the folder to the path indicated in step 2.
4.- Now we only have to go to the Empathy window> Edit> Preferences> Theme, and select the theme of our choice, remember in some cases you must restart the chat window to apply the changes.
And that's all it takes to change the theme of Empathy.
If the path /home/(user)/.local/share/adium/message-styles/ does not work, they can also do it like this
sudo mkdir / usr / local / share / adium
sudo mkdir / usr / local / share / adium / message-styles
after created the folders save it like this / usr / local / share / adium / message-styles
Friend, thank you, you stopped by, it worked for me the first time!
Very good friend but it did not work in my case 🙁 I tried the personal folder and the usr folder…. as root and restarting empathy but it doesn't work 🙁 I use Fedora 20 with gnome-shell. Thanks friend I will continue investigating.
