Changes in Arch Linux

How about community.

Last night there was an important change for those of us who use this distro. The explanation offered on the arch site (news) is, although very brief for my taste, it is important to take it into account, although in practice it is only one more change in the definitive migration to systemd.

Checking before doing something and looking a bit, in the GESPADAS space it is explained in a very simple and simple way what to do, so I recommend you give it a look.

Change is the removal of console kit of both the official and AUR repositories (although it is said that it will soon be available in this repo again) and that for traditional DEs such as GNOME and KDE it does not have a direct impact but for XFCE, LXDE, Razor-QT and OpenBOX they do since it implies a small modification in the xinitrc where you have to eliminate (if they have it) the instruction ck-launch-session as systemd-loginid is the one that takes care of this.

The function of console kit It is to allow non-root users to be able to mount external devices either by USB or SD reader and also to suspend, shutdown and restart the system.

So if you haven't yet migrated to systemdWell, it is time to do it, do not be afraid of it since it is very simple and uncomplicated. In fact, on the GESPADAS site there is a tutorial for it.

I would also like to tell you that a few days ago the AUR repo was out of service so if you like this other tip that GESPADAS exposes, it will be very helpful when this is presented again.

Well that's all for now and I hope the above is helpful to have this incredible distro ready.

Neither birdge nor nosonja nor manjaro nor cinnarch nor pindongarch are Arch Linux.

At least it affected me in KDE because the applications that used the password (apper, change preferences, etc.) could not authenticate so I had to migrate to systemd: = (

The systemd thing, I had a while and consolekit is recent.
But I see that it improves, for the better arch.

Yesterday I updated the equipment and I did not want to restart it in case something failed. There were updates for various things including the kernel and systemd, so before going to bed I turned it off with the intention of fixing any problems today by turning it on.

Today in the morning I turned it on and everything worked as usual without any news. It worked so well that I started using it and didn't remember the update at all until now that I read this post.

It's funny how things go unnoticed when they work. If something had gone wrong, I would have noticed it. 😀

The same for my case ... everything working as it should.

@ jorgemanjarrezlerma, thanks for the information.

Thank you very much for the info!! Although I also do not notice it, it is important to make the changes that the developers say 😀

ConsoleKit is long dead so the desktops have been recompiled with systemd support.
Coincidentally today I stopped using KDM to log in directly from the console and the truth is that it is perfect.

Both broke the balls with systemd to the dope, it is excellent, in fact, since X is started in the tty from which it is invoked, it is not necessary to continue using vlock and thus that terrible security hole that existed -and still exists in the systems not using systemd- when starting a graphical session from terminal =)

I just reinstalled Arch Bridge and according to me I had already passed the systemd scare when I made the second pacman -Syu and balls! I turn it on today and I ran out of login-user and Broadcom wifi. Just about 5 minutes solving but he's back. By the way, Bridge Linux is not that bad even though its last ISO is from August, a couple of updates before customizing it and it looks great. Better than Nosonja, who hasn't updated his ISO since May and when he made the first pacman -Syu the system was destroyed.
