Gmail has recently reorganized its inbox so that users can access received messages by type, making checking the inbox simpler and more organized—or at least that's the goal. To clarify, we're talking about the " Primary ," " Social , " and "Promotions" tabs, which are displayed by default. Their names are self-explanatory: for example, if you receive a notification from a social network you're registered on, you can view it by selecting the corresponding tab in Gmail. " Promotions " will display messages like news, offers, and discounts—all those sent by online stores and similar services—while the Primary tab is where you'll receive messages from your contacts. So, the purpose of this article is to learn how to choose message tabs in your account.
For some, it might be a bit tedious, while for others it's a better way to sort and access messages in Gmail. But this is how the inbox is organized, and if we want to customize it—which Gmail allows—we just need to take a closer look at the interface. We'll see that it is indeed possible to choose message tabs in our Gmail account. For example, if we don't want the Promotions tab to appear, we can remove it and add other tabs. Let's see what our options are by clicking the "+" symbol next to the tabs.
A window will open where you can choose which message tabs you want to appear in your Gmail inbox. The only one that will always remain visible is the main tab; the others, such as Social and Promotions, can be hidden . There are two other tabs: one for notifications and another for forum messages, and these are the ones you can add to your main page. You can choose all of them, just some, or remove them all and keep only the main tab—it's up to each user. The idea is to take advantage of this and choose the message tabs that best suit your work pace and the types of messages you most frequently receive.
Finally another fact to take into account about the tabs in Gmail is that there is an option that we can activate or deactivate which will show the highlighted messages in the Gmail inbox, by default this option is active, after having chosen the tabs we must not forgetting to save for the changes to take effect in our account.
