Copado: “open source” restaurant =)

Great idea from a couple of Dutch who have created the project Restaurant Instructables, an idea that still does not have a physical version (in the form of a restaurant, well), but that is remarkable because everything, absolutely everything that exists in this theoretical restaurant follows the Open Source philosophy.

They explain it in Network World, where they indicate that any client of this restaurant you can access the "source code" of any dish that you consume or want to consume, but it is also possible to access all the documentation on the furniture used, the posters and the complete structure of this business, all under a Creative Commons license.

The developers base this idea on the project instructionables.com, which applies that philosophy to everything we can imagine and that allows us to assemble all kinds of inventions in a few minutes by ourselves following simple tutorials with which we can also save a fortune. As they explain there,

"Instructionables is a web documentation platform in which passionate people share what they do and how they do it, and learn from that collaboration with other people."

The result of the application of this idea to an Open Source Restaurant is what has allowed have all the necessary documentation to set up this type of business. The original developers tried to make it in Amsterdam in december 2009, but it was a preliminary event that has not yet crystallized in a fixed restaurant.

Even the "source code" for mounting the lamps is available in this amazing project.

But if you want to set up your own Open Source Restaurant, you can start doing it now. An original idea, and very nutritious 😉
