Counter on the eOS site Will we already have a stable version?

Elementary_Countdown

I just accessed to the site of eOS (aka ElementaryOS) and I find a simple and beautiful (it could not be otherwise) counter that tells us that there are only two days left. But two days for what?

I guess for the release of the stable version of eOS, something your users have been waiting for a long, long time.

I love the look of eOSI'm not going to deny it, but it's hard for me to leave KDE. When I think about eOS Two adjectives come to mind: Simple and Beautiful. It is perhaps because of how simple it is, another factor that prevents me from using this distro, but hey! currently I always recommend it for new users, above Ubuntu o linuxmint.

I have the version Beta2 in a flash memory and from time to time I start to play with it. From memory it's behavior is "fairly" stable. I say this taking into account that I have not updated using the distribution's PPAs, so some errors that have appeared to me I suppose are already solved.

And well, to kill the desire, because the best solution I have found is to leave my KDE very similar:

Elementary_KDE

I have updated the post. I had the wrong date on the laptop. Two days left

"Stable" I imagine that for many, I broke down just by installing the Nvidia driver ... I keep saying that they never had to make the leap to the distro but have only dedicated themselves to the development of their own desktop environment.

I have always thought that the boys of Elementary should not have adopted a special distribution, but released their packages for all. In other words, the Elementary ecosystem could be like one more Desktop Environment.

        Exact!

That really would have worked a lot better.

Yes, I also think the same, although the icons and those things if they are for the other desktops, I would have much preferred that they develop another desktop than another distro but anyway, let's see how

You are asking a lot Elav.

Elav, you want the pig, the pigs, the corral and the cows.

Too much and good work from these Elementary kids, my hat is off to them.

uff I thought it was the only one that happened with the nvidia driver, it hurts I really liked its design, now I use kubuntu and puff kde has me on its laurels: 3

It gives me less problems than Ubuntu and Linux MInt, it is lighter and very very stable and it is also a beta, betaaaaa. It is extremely stable, the fact that you were broken there by the drivers does not mean that they were all there.

But hey, it's just your opinion against the majority who say that it is stable and that it is good that they jumped to a distro.

It seems to me that it was a good idea, currently it is the distro I use and I love it and I'm sure most of them love it too.

There is one thing that does not add up to me, how is it that you and I have two days left? xD

    1.    elav said

It will be because of the time difference. No idea, you have to check the system clock 😀

Good distro, although it looks more like Debian 1.0 in terms of its development cycle (3 years old).

Well, I never thought to leave KDE, peeeeero, it happened that everything was going well and I got bored, then elementary arrived and puff, now you see me here as one of its followers!

It looks good, I have already seen some captures and I see that the distro is well achieved. I am currently on Fedora 19 with Xfce desktop, we will surely test it on the desktop. Cheers

The problem with eOS and the like is that it is cycle-based and its repositories are cluttered with old applications.

They should adopt the dynamics of Chakra, Manjaro, Sabayon ?, aptosid, KdeOS, Semplice and the like as soon as possible ...

  14.   Yoyo said

I've been testing it since the first alphas but this distro doesn't just square me: - /

That if, pretty like her alone.

She is pretty and all but it doesn't seem productive to me, but seeing the promotional video You can tell that they want to attract the Makers to the Linux world.

Hi, I have been lucky enough to test it on a Netbook, it is a light, fast and functional distribution for home use. Browse, film, music, some other work. It is fantastic but not very customizable (partly logical), but in the end this team has done a good job.
