Is it my feeling, or in this distro, everything is jumbo-sized?

The same I commented in the last post.

I found it beautiful, it is the best e17 distro I have seen so far and at the same time the best I have seen in terms of accessibility (the version for older adults).

Excellent thanks. I have never tried this distribution so it is time to experiment ...

I like how it looks, I would only put the smaller icons on it.
So it's an Ubuntu with E17 but when it matures will it be an environment that uses E17 or how?

Desktop, kids and experimental icons are at 48 × 48, the reason they are is because of future touch support. Life has large icons because it is aimed at the elderly and for them it is easier that way.

Regarding the environment in all four, e17 is used, but on top of it they have a customization layer that includes launcher and their own applications that will become an independent environment in the future.

Did you understand? It is different from what you see 🙂

        Well explained, thanks 🙂

I love the idea that Dax Os Life has, that it comes «adapted» to the elderly is a luxury, and also with TVs !! 😛

However, there is something that I do not understand and it is that mania of mixing concepts in educational OSs. Why are the teacher tools in the same distribution as the student software? I think that a student will be little interested in "the catalog of teaching resources" or the "creator of Jclic activities".

I don't know, I see many other distributions (like Edubuntu or Zorin) that do exactly the same thing, they mix both teachers 'and students' tools in one OS and in the end a very strange "potingue" is formed that does not satisfy either party.

It should also highlight that an appearance like the one presented is great for Infant or 1st Cycle of Primary. However, in 2nd or 3rd Cycle children (and some teachers) like things a little more sober (perhaps like the appearance of Dax Os Desktop).

Finally, games like "supertux" or "sonic" are not very educational in themselves (unless the teacher decides to work with them). To "solve" the problem I pose, I think we should differentiate a Dax Os Kids (like the one you have shown) and a Dax Os Edu (which I just got out of my sleeve), because if it isn't a mess.

Well, after exposing all the negative points, I am going to say what I did like.

I love the educational center, as you have very useful tools at hand, however I need one to make it practically "perfect" and that is to add Cuadernia to that list (it has its .deb version).

I hope you take this as a totally constructive criticism, as I greatly appreciate the effort made to get an OS forward.

Greetings and encouragement with the project!

I fully share what you think, but look, I am speaking from personal experience, I am currently studying to be a primary education teacher and in the schools that I was teaching and students used the same software with the same programs, that's why I did it this way. Anyway I will look to create a more formal artwork for both the teachers and the upper cycles, something more typical of that age.

I'm glad you liked it 🙂

      1.    Brutosaurus said

Man, the artwork you have now for the first cycles is not bad, maybe with a theme or something like that you can make up for that lack.

Regarding the fact that teachers and students use the same thing, it is true, however, most use Windows, which is not a dedicated OS.

I used Molinux with the dwarves, and it is surprising how they prefer Linux to Windows because of the crap of gelatinous windows 😀

        Greetings !!

PS: Oh! No! More competition in the oppositions! 😛

        1.    davis15 said

HAHAHAHA, I'll do the oppositions in Ceuta xD, don't worry

Now that I take a closer look at this distro, entering its page and seeing all its content seems absolutely interesting to me. I see that they have been working since 2011.

I couldn't find references in other languages, is this distro made by a Spanish-speaker? The truth is great development, everything looks very professional and polished, I love E17 and I've been using Bodhi Linux since its inception, but this distro catches my attention, I will definitely try it, it is worth the effort and how polished it is.

    A greeting.

    1.    davis15 said

Yes, we are all Spanish speakers in the team, we have a vision to start translating the distro, but before English we may do it in English, but despite this we intend to support the main languages in the short term.
