For those who do not know Dax OS, say it is a distribution based on Ubuntu, which uses as desktop environment illumination 17. In recent versions it has included a customization base that includes its own applications and a launcher that is the forerunner of a future desktop environment, all developed in the programming language Prawns 3.
The distribution has been developing new versions for five years, currently it has three flavors «desktop»(Standard user),«Kids»(Educational) and«Experimental»(Innovative version compared to the previous ones).
A few hours ago it was released DaxOS Experimental 2.0.2, a version that offers the news that the new revision of DaxOS Desktop, before it is released. Some of the most relevant features that this version brings are:
- Stable version of illumination 17
- Own applications developed in Gambas 3, as a video player, text editor, web browser and notes for the desktop.
- A personalization layer of its own that includes a launcher developed in Gambas 3 as well, which is a menu with various options and with access to different web applications.
- Una app store online, developed in HTML5 and that works under the apturl protocol
- Latest stable version of Firefox
- Own repository for future database updates Dax OS
- Lockscreen, it is a minimalist lock screen and with access to social networks
Own applications

The download button does not work, I do not know why it is, here is the download link http://daxos.org/descargas.html
It looks kind of… weird.
I'll try to try this one too, just for the intrigue 🙂
Greetings and thanks for your posts!
It is different. Thanks to you!!
I got to DaxOS Desktop from this link: http://motoroladefymini.wordpress.com/
a few months ago, and the truth is that it is an excellent Distro with E17, just like Bodhi, for me, I am a lover of Light DEs, with special affection for E17, both have excellent artwork.
More than that I can't comment, because I was only with this distro for a few days.
I didn't know it had applications of its own.
To download this version it has been said !!
Tell me I didn't see Daddy Yankee D:…
Anyway, I don't know how good your programs are, I would have to try it even though I'm lazy, but it's the most beautiful E17 I've seen, although, it's still ugly for my taste xD
Daddy Yankee? Where? http://i.imgur.com/jqTRVLy.png
Hahahaha, is that Daddy Nano or Nano Yankee !?
In any case… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CH3_3rDAfU
Be careful this will come out on 4chan.

ROFLMAO !!!!!!!!!
Is that comment good or bad? Because I saw you bewildered with daddy yankee hahaha
If you saw Daddy Yankee there is news that I have to give you ...
I tried DaxOS in the past, as a distro with an E17 quite integrated into the system more than a year ago, I had a good feeling with it, we will have to take a look to see how it has evolved.
The first thing I thought !! XD
no…. I repressed that moment xD
Your avatar says it all.
Gambas3 = Visual Bashit port to GNU / Linux + reggaeton video in the first capture: not a distro for me.
Thanks anyway for sharing 🙂
You are going to crucify me for daddy hahaha it was the only video I had on hand to make the capture. In the future I will take another xD
Please see it coming. The Daddy Yankee joke and others were already understood, not one more fucking comment on the subject. We are talking about DaxOS, not Daddy Yankee.
It is true! Better, @ crx0 could describe the feelings he had with her = _ =
I summarize (quite a bit) because I tested it in my distrohopper time with 7 distributions installed on my laptop (chackra as the main one, and 6 testing ones in search of the best performance for a low-end laptop with 5 years under its belt). As I have already said, I was looking for the highest performance with the best possible features, which is why Chackra fell in love with me, because despite having kde as a desktop environment, it moved great, much better than others with lighter environments.
At that time I read in a blog about this distro, based on the e17 desktop that I had read so much about, but no distribution took it as a bedside desktop, so I was curious and I installed it. At that time, it was based on Ubuntu if I remember correctly, and the truth is, it consumed few resources, it had a very polished e17, with very good themes for that time, when e17 had not yet released its stable version and it was much more « inhospitable "(to define it in some way, it now includes many more things by default) and with Faenza icon set (if memory serves, again). The result was a very light system that consumed few resources, quite stable, with Ubuntu packages and an e17 up to the task, both in stability and in appearance.
The change from then to today, without having tried this latest version, seems very large, both visually, and in the general direction of the distribution. I don't like the use of gambas3 at first as @msx comments, but I know that in the end I will take a look at this version, since apparently DaxOS is one of the "rare beauties" of the unique GNU / Linux world.
Although the sensations thing was in a sarcastic tone - I did not put the quotes on purpose - your answer deserves a Diego Armando.
Excellent, thanks for sharing.
It doesn't look bad, except for the cangri.
crab?
A way to lick Daddy Yankee.
To pay attention to elav. We don't want any more banhammer.
In the distribution forum I have seen that the programs they have created are available for download at http://sourceforge.net/projects/daxos/files/. But I have downloaded some and I can't get it to work in Debian / testing. Does anyone know what packages need to be installed to make them work? (Generic names would suffice, they don't have to be exactly the names of the Debian packages). Thanks in advance.
Gambas 3, even if you do not download them from there since we will soon delete that page, you better do it from this repository that we created a few days ago on github https://github.com/daxos
The distro looks great, the truth is that the applications are in shrimp is not something very common these days, with the facilities that Python gives us and with the ease that the community would collaborate with such a code. but in addition to this I do not find anything wrong, I imagine that they are basic entry applications, since in the end we will use our favorites as always.
PS: The browser is original with the icons on the left.
PD2: The good thing about that video is how the dancers move xD hahaha.
Very colorful!
I only had a doubt if it is intended for a particular user group, and the colors of the symbol remind me of the German flag. Does it have something to do with it?
It is the standard version is aimed at most users, personal use, multimedia or a basic use
I do not know why this distro is drawing my attention, right now I download it to test it
A torrent would be good, I can't download it from the link, it says that the file is in high demand. Cheers
I am considering doing it with the final version, but tomorrow I will try to have another download link
Is it for 32 or 64 processors?
32 bits
Interesting, I like the way it looks.
Something that I have noticed with e17 is that they always put gigantic icons on it, is it my imagination?
It looks interesting.
As for beauty? all thanks to E17 which is beautiful and light (more than LXDE).
E17 and based on Ubuntu… ..I stay with Bodhi Linux, it has offered me the stability and comfort for two years that I have been with it as the main distro on my laptop (on the desktop I have SolydX).
and when will the other version of Dax OS Desktop be released?
I am going to install experimental Dax OS and from there can I upgrade to Dax OS Desktop or is it not possible?
It is not possible, since the version of e17 they use is different.
It is based on Ubuntu 12.04
Sorry I was wrong, if it is possible to update through the distribution repository. But it can only be updated from experimental Dax OS
what version of ubuntu is it based on?
To my knowledge on ubuntu 12.04
It looks good
