When it comes to achieving efficient and effective administration or management of our Databases (BBDD), we usually use a unique database management tool for these, since, in general, only one type of Database (DB) for a particular development.

But when different types of Database for one or more developments or systems, the idea is to have a Universal database manager that allows us to work with various Database at the same time, such as, "DBeaver Community Edition". As, "DBeaver Community Edition" is a universal database tool, free and open source, for developers and database administrators.

Current Features

Since our last post about "DBeaver Community Edition" almost 2 years ago, the application has changed a bit, but these are still its main 10 current features:

  1. It is multiplatform.
  2. It is free and open source (ASL).
  3. Offers cloud data source support.
  4. Provides support for the enterprise security standard.
  5. Includes support for any database that has a JDBC driver.
  6. It can handle any external data source that may or may not have a JDBC driver.
  7. Includes the ability to work with various extensions for integration with Excel, Git, and others.
  8. It is based on an open source framework and allows writing various extensions (plugins).
  9. It has a set of plugins for different databases and different database management utilities.
  10. Usability is still its main goal, so its GUI remains carefully designed and implemented.

What's new in DBeaver Community Edition 21.2.1

Among its many new arrivals are the following 10:

  1. For the use of SSH Tunnel the jump server configurator (port number) was fixed.
  2. Added resolution of Windows shortcuts.
  3. Column ordering support has been added for the use of Entity-Relationship Diagrams (ERD).
  4. The confirmation dialog user interface has been redesigned.
  5. For metadata search, the search in the object comment configurator has been fixed and the search page for cross-database search has been corrected.
  6. The database session manager update has been fixed.
  7. For DB2, support for searching for columns, procedures, and functions has been added.
  8. For Firebird, support for calculated fields has been added.
  9. Fixed DDL (Unique Keys) table for Greenplum.
  10. Support for H2 procedural aliases has been added.
