Ben hutchings (developer of Debian) announced on the email list which Debian 7 (Wheezy) will use the Linux kernel 3.2.
How does this benefit?
Well, just knowing the what's new in 3.2 We can realize the advantages, I leave some news here:
- Ext4 supports block sizes larger than 4KB and to 1MB which improves performance with large files.
- Btrfs performs the process of scrubbing (check all the filesystem checksums) faster, automatically backs up critical metadata, and is now able to manually inspect the file system.
- The process manager has added support for setting maximum CPU time limits.
- Desktop responsiveness has improved in the presence of heavy disk writes.
- TCP It has been updated to include an algorithm that speeds up connection recovery after packet loss.
- The analysis tool "Perf top" has added support for live inspection of processes and libraries.
- The device mapper has added support for Thin provisioning.
Ubuntu 12.04 (next LTS) will also come with Linux 3.2, so it makes sense that the development team of Debian is working somewhat in conjunction with the UbuntuThe idea is that kernel 3.2 is a wide support kernel (LTS) in Debian as well.
In fact, not long ago Greg Kroah-Hartman He passed The Linux 3.0 kernel is in long-term (LTS) status, which means that it will be supported for the next 2 years.
This new version of Debian will be of interest to many. Good because each stable version of this distro is excellent news for everyone, as well as the news that it will bring 😉

interesting, I think that the "unnameable" is a bit early, but it is always good to have news of the distro you use, it should be like you say kzkg ...... it is a luxury in servers, but it can also be used as you know well on a personal computer, It is not recommended but if you have it a little hand in hand it gives you great satisfaction… .. let's wait until 2013 to see how the new debian is :))
Indeed 🙂
Many distros can be used on servers as such, some are even more recommended by others than Debian itself, but personally I prefer Debian Stable 😀
Yes haha, it can also be used on workstations, but I think that for that there are other distros that can do the job better, of course ... it's what I think, others will obviously think differently 🙂
Now elav will come and say that Debian is the host, that if whistles and flutes ... The never ending tale
It also depends on what for. For a broad business environment, perhaps a paid-supported Red Hat or SuSe roll distro is preferred over a Debian distro no matter how stable it is. For workstations, Debian Stable certainly does the trick.
isn't it a bit early for these kinds of ads?
wheezy won't be coming until 2013 as i understand
As such no.
The 3.2 is in the Debian unstable repos, soon it will be in the testing repos. I'm not a big fan of Debian as such, but the news of the next stable version always catches my attention, it may be because without a doubt I plan to always use Debian Stable on the servers that I manage 🙂
I'm in sid, at first I un-configure the broadcom-sta driver. I think it's time to update.
use debian testing and stop suffering on your desktops …………… .as they said stable desktop testing servers …………….
I use debian for my desktop and I render a lot with blender, no distro has fulfilled that function better and believe me, I have tried almost all of them
