Excellent news that I just read in Webupd8 and that more than one user here will love it. Desura has been released under license LPG v3, using as code name "Desurium".
Apparently the idea is that by opening the client's source code, The Community of Users You can report and correct any bug that occurs, and add or improve functionality more quickly. From my point of view it has been a very wise decision by the developers. I am sure that the use of this platform will increase and the versions of its clients will be improved for GNU / Linux and other SO.
One more point in favor of Free Software. 😀
Its developer said it a long time ago and it has finally been fulfilled.
I use it and I'm delighted ^^
Whoops. If I remember hearing about it, but never dared to download it, I think I'll give it a try (they go 20.75MB out of 40.58MB).
Wow amazing right now I try it 😀
Great news. Since the deSteam do not put the batteries with Linux, but with Mac: -S I hope that this project continues to grow.
Hi Elav. As always, thank you for your articles, interesting and enriching sources of information. However, I would like to ask you a favor: a little more context. I read the news and I think: "ah, well, they released the code to make it free, that's good, but ... what is Desura?"
It would not be necessary to explain everything in great detail, but a short introduction at the beginning of the article, one or two sentences, is enough. For example: "The people in charge of the Desura project, a platform for creating and developing games for Windows and Linux, has just announced the release… blah blah…". With something like this, the non-expert reader already gets the idea: "ah, Desura has to do with games."
Well, it's just a style tip. In any case, I am always curious and I seek and try to understand. Thanks again for all this news from the world of free software.
Desura is a game distribution system similar to the well-known Steam.
There are some free games, free, and of course, paid.
In case you're interested, I opened a Hispanic community for those of us who use the Linux client:
http://www.desura.com/groups/desura-linux-hispano
You opened it but nobody does anything in it ... you have to fix that, you know? We should agree.
This paragraph should be within the article, not all of us have to know what Desura is, before reading you I clicked the link to find out what they were talking about.
There are no deb or rpm packages that should fix it, and make installation easier for each distro.
It's not that I don't know, it's that you have to make things easy for users or as Ubuntu says for "human beings"
Doing things easy does not learn, which is what it is about
By the way, I congratulate you on the page because it is very very good. I will stop by often to see your news.
PS: I hadn't noticed the logos, Browser and OS, that's cool. You can tell I'm not at home .. hehehe
Luck.
How good!!!!
I use windows precisely for this, now there are no justifications
Old man, Desura is also for Windows
It looks good, especially the Seven Kingdoms, let's see if I can install it in Trisquel 😐
The problem is that there are only two games that I like, amnesia and oil rush, the others look too amateur 🙁
