Donations and income in DesdeLinux. We offer more data

A few days ago my colleague KZKG ^ Gaara public an article where we mentioned the possibility of adding advertising in DesdeLinux as a method to obtain profits and be able to pay for Hosting and the services we offer, instead of asking for donations.

Well, a friend created the account for us AdSense and was approved by Google. Afterwards we configured it, we added the advertising banners in DesdeLinux and it wasn't about 5 hours before they had already deactivated our account. According to Google, our account represented a danger for AdWords... anyway, Fuck you Google!!

If anyone knows of any other service like AdSense, that actually works and be serious, please tell us through the comments or write to us kzkggaara [at] desdelinux [dot] net o elav [at] desdelinux [dot] net.

Any suggestion about a service of this type will be very well received.

About Donations

My colleague already explained the reason why we did not ask for donations directly, however, some people have already sent their monetary aid for which we greatly appreciate them.

To give you an idea of how much money we are reaching thanks to your help, I have put a Wikipedia-style bar on the sidebar that says the total to be reached and how much we currently have thanks to your donations.

Donations

How much money do we need?

Some asked how much money we really needed. Well, I will explain to you what the money is used for. DesdeLinux currently. To do this, and before detailing the services, I invite you to see the prices of our provider: GNUTransfer.

We are currently using the plans:

  • xen 2048 ($ 29.92 / Month, $ 354.04 / Year, or a total of $ 300 thanks to the annual discount.)
  • xen 3072 ($ 44.95 / Month, $ 539.28 / Year, or a total of $ 450 thanks to the annual discount.)

In other words, for both servers we would normally pay $ 750 annually. I say we would pay because actually, by an agreement between our project and GNUTransferWe have a special discount, so the final figure is $ 300 per year. And this agreement is still in force.

I take the opportunity to recommend GNUTransfer for their incredible support and professionalism

At Xen 3072 VPS (the largest and with the most benefits) we have, of course, everything related to the Blog, which is the service that currently has the highest traffic and consumption. At Xen 2048 VPS, we have the rest of the services (Forum, Paste, FTP, Webmail ... etc).

Crowdfounding

Some users have suggested us to use sites like Indiegogo y Kickstarter to create a campaign Crowdfounding and see if in this way we can reach the figure that we propose to obtain.

We are seriously evaluating it, but not to reach only the money we need, but to also start other projects that we believe are very interesting as they are, a site for developers and perhaps another for mobile devices.

And this dear friends is all on the subject of Donations. Thank you very much to all of you, and if you want to contribute financially, you can write to us at the email I put above. If in addition, they wish that when the total is reached we publish their name (or nickname) and the amount they contributed in gratitude for the help, they specify it in their email.

They could ask for money to make a potato salad on Kickstarter, with that they get lined up and even enough for a mac and leave linux: troll

Oh! What a good idea. So we follow in Torvalds' footsteps and buy a Macbook 😀

$ 300.00 per year for the two VPS? What a good discount, that means that GNUTransfer, whether they want to or not, is putting a large part for this project ... Is it incredible that among the community we cannot pay 300 per year? ... I have some experience in the difficulty of obtaining resources, by projects, which I think are worth it ...

I honestly hate advertising, I prefer to pay, but not to have it. So simple that it would be to give a few dollars a month permanently.

I sign up with 10 dollars a month, but, as a commitment, those who sign up (it can be from one dollar but not limited, hehe), but it has to be serious and monthly, if not there is no flow of working capital. Who signs up?

    A hug

Thank you very much Mauricio for the initiative and your comment. Well yes, GNUTransfer is giving a phenomenal support, those guys work very well and the support is first class.

Well, I have checked it by consulting the price of the hosting as well as giving it a taste, and the truth is that they are spectacular with the treatment and customer service.

Well, what I would like is that both the site raffle among the best writers a free year of GNUTransfer VPS in order to promote the service, since it is not as popular as HostGator or A2 Hosting are (very good, but from time to time in when they go from careros).

Still, I'd be happier with the GNUTransfer service, but unfortunately I'm short on Ca $ h and barely on this shared hosting with which I keep my site standing with GoDaddy and his blessed discount coupons to renew the domain, so with a GNUTransfer VPS it would even give me the opportunity to move my WordPress site to Drupal in a jiffy.

With a PayPal donations button you can do that, when you give the donation the same button asks if you want to repeat it automatically every month. He had already told Gaara about it, it remains to be seen what is decided.

      1.    elav said

Hmm. Sandy hadn't told me about that. Let's see what we do.

      2.    eliotime3000 said

Yes, well. With that I would easily say SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY !!! But since there is no button to donate in no time, I will have to send a message inside a bottle to KZKG & Gaara to receive my donation proposal.

Hi, try this tool that I found online http://advertise.bingads.microsoft.com/en-us/sign-up?mkt=en-us If it doesn't work for you then I don't have a single idea.

    all the best

I notice that this Microsoft service was great when it was only from Microsoft (it was face to face with AdSense), but with the merger of Yahoo Ads, now it puts advertising that sends you to pages of scams, malware and that crap.

      Therefore, NOPE.

Do you have any idea how many hater comments I've had to delete from last night until now?

Just to make it clear, gentlemen, avoid the bad drink of commenting something like that and then throwing tantrums because they are eliminated or the comment does not pass moderation.

    Thank you.

Well guys, I already wrote to both of you to get in touch and help you with this project. I wait for an answer to be able to donate something.

    Greetings.

In my opinion crowdfounding would help too much, because people greatly support free software projects with donations that sometimes exceed the established goal; giving Canonical's Ubuntu Edge as an example, greetings from Mexico.

I think that if each of the 586 people who read this post donated 1 dollar there would be enough capital for this and more projects in the community hahaha
but hey, I'm willing to contribute tell me to which PayPal account I will send the donation or how are you doing to raise the money?

And if you had more details about the cause of the closure of your adwords account, I could discuss it with a contact, maybe we can do something

    I await answer

    Thank you very much!

      @Rodrigo:
"And if you had more details about the cause of the closure of your adwords account, I could discuss it with a contact, maybe we can do something"
Google Adsense policies are very strict, if they detect fraudulent clicks (people who see the ad for only a few seconds and then close the window, which shows that they were not interested in the ad at all) or an excessive number of clicks with respect to the number of ads that have been "printed" (they have studied that well since they have been advertising for many years), because they cancel your account ... and you cannot claim anything, since they have the power to do so without giving you explanations. It is clear that you have to look out for the interests of advertisers, who are ultimately the ones who pay.

      1.    rotietip said

Is that true or is it that you don't even know the real cause of why you were suspended from Adsense? Although on the one hand it is understandable since a few years ago through a chat that I frequent I used to meet minitas (or guys who pretend to be girls) who told you something like "If you go to unblogpedorro.blogspot.com and click on this link then I'll give you my email / you can see me naked on cam" being that those links were from Adsense (there is still another one that does that, but go explain to him that Google detects false clicks).
On the other hand, some Adsense policies are quite absurd (especially those bullshit related to copyright), but I think it is better that they have closed the account now and not in a few years because over time you become their bitch to the point that you end up censoring / removing comments, posts and even entire blogs just for the big shots at Google to consider unlocking your Adsense account.
If they look for alternatives they can start here but it is not a guarantee of anything since it is still very difficult to beat Google in its own field.

I have an idea: get a YouTube channel from the blog, in which content obviously related to the blog (tips, tutorials, etc) is posted. there are channels that seem to be very profitable, and thus in 1 year, possibly the goal of 300 dollars will be more than reached. a greeting

    1.    jsbsan said

      + gustavo17:
Youtube is "intimately" linked to google adsense, with which, it is no longer worth them ...

Another option is to create manuals and sell them in a virtual library, for example: http://www.lulu.com
      I have 3 published manuals:
      http://www.lulu.com/shop/search.ep?keyWords=gambas3&sorter=relevance-desc
The problem with this is that it requires a lot of work (preparing and editing the manuals) and that it is a long-term investment, it is not to get immediate liquidity ...

    Good.

    Please…

I see that you pay much less than I do, and you get much more than I get by paying much more.

Please, could you indicate the website of these people who offer this service (VPS Xen ...)?

    Thank you very much.
    Yours sincerely.

        Oh….
That link sounded like a money transfer to me and I can see that I associated it with your order.

Very friendly. Thank you very much for the tip.

        Yours sincerely.

They could also try PayU and DineroMail. If they open an account they could receive money in local currency and without a credit card, from various Latin American countries, it even has a "solidarity portal" for Argentina. They can try their luck, if they let them in as a non-profit entity.
