Use on GNU / Linux

For download, install and use "DroidCam" on GNU / Linux the following procedure must be followed:

  • Download, install and run "DroidCam" on the required Android / iOS device and note the IP Address and Port pointed out by the application, for example:  «http://192.168.0.105:4747», «http://192.168.0.105:4747/video» o «https://192.168.0.105:4747».
  • Run in a Terminal (Console) the following command orders:
wget -O droidcam_latest.zip https://files.dev47apps.net/linux/droidcam_1.8.0.zip
unzip droidcam_latest.zip -d droidcam
cd droidcam && sudo ./install-client
sudo apt install linux-headers-`uname -r` gcc make
sudo ./install-video
lsmod | grep v4l2loopback_dc
sudo ./install-sound
pacmd load-module module-alsa-source device=hw:Loopback,1,0
  • Run via Applications menu application "DroidCam" and specify in its graphical interface the type of connection (WiFi / LAN, WiFi Server Mode, USB Android and USB iOS). Check if video and sound are enabled and enter the Address «IP: Port» displayed by the customer on the used Android / iOS device. And finish by pressing the Connection button (Connect) to start the same processes.
  • Open an Internet Browser, and enter directly in the URL address box the Address «IP: Port» o Address «IP: Port / video» annotated. You can also enter a web application such as a Telegram chat, WhatsApp, Facebook and others to use the webcam, as long as the browser has detected it without any problem.

      Greetings, Franco. Thanks for your comment. Regarding Freezer's Linux client, I assume that for some it will be impractical, for another useful, and for others a great solution. In my case, testing it worked well for me and for that reason, I think it can be useful to others.
