Dropbox is a free service that allows you three main things, make backup of your files (2 gigs free), share folders with friends and share files between our computers.
Es multi platform, it works on Windows, Linux and Mac. Also, it integrates very well with the file explorer on Windows, Nautilus on Linux and Mac. |
I am going to explain how to install it and some functions to start using it.
This step is necessary in order to start using Dropbox. To register enter this link. There are very few data to fill in.
You have to put them as in the image. Despeus we will give 'Create account'. We will receive an email welcoming us.
Now we have to download the program to be able to integrate it with Nautilus. Anyway, we could already use them from this link (Once logged in) To download it we use this link. It will give us a choice between .rpm or .deb packages
Installation on Debian / Ubuntu or derivatives
Once downloaded we execute the deb package and the installation will begin like any other deb. Once installed we open it from Apps> Internet> Dropbox and a window will open asking us to install a certain package, we will say yes and when the download is finished this will appear.
We select the second option.
We enter the data of our previously created account. Ready. The dropbox icon will appear along with the other indicators (It is necessary to restart before starting to use it).
We can do this with other computers by introducing the same account so that they have the same folder. Every time you arrest something to the Dropbox folder on your home it will be changed on all computers (including windows and mac)
Share folders with friends
Once we have Dropbox installed we can share folders. To begin we will create a new folder that we will share and we will give it with the right button. We open the Dropbox menu and select the option 'Sharing Options' The browser will open and show this.
Above we put the emails of the people we want to invite (They must have a Dropbox account) and an invitation message.
Ready, when they accept that folder it will synchronize with them.
With this, I say goodbye to my first post. For now I'm testing but I hope to stay here a long time.
