Trying to rest a bit from the most popular alternatives (VLC, SMPlayer, etc ..) I found in AUR a multimedia player that not only plays Audio and Video, but also has other interesting features.
ExMplayer is a GUI for MPLayer but with the particularity that it is written in Qt and it is multiplatform.
Yes, SMPlayer also, but the difference is that ExMplayer gives us the option to watch the movie in 3D, as long as the video allows it, using various methods.
We can zoom into the video, change the resolution, increase its quality, change the FPS, and take screenshots of what we are playing.
Not only that, for the most Geeks, ExMplayer has filters for video, some of them very WTF? such as, for example, the one that allows us to see what we are playing in the Matrix:
In addition, we can open our files through an option that shows us our local folders at the top of the player, with an effect similar to that of the Cover Flow de iTunes:
Still not enough? Well, this player has a lot of other good features, such as the possibility of extract audio from video o convert it to MP3, OGG, AAC and a bunch of other popular formats.
It also has a tool called MediaCutter, which allows us to cut audio and video and in this way do editing work in a simple way, or create our own shorts Came, 6-second videos popularized by Twitter (we can see some examples in TheBestVine).
Another interesting option of this player is what they call "SeekView", that is, like the reproducers of YouTube, Vimeo, etc, ExMplayer shows us fragments of the video by moving the cursor over the control bar.
Using opensubtitles.org, ExMplayer allows us to upload, download and search for subtitles in multiple languages, so we can forget about looking for them on the web.
We can also share on Facebook directly (with the click of a button) what we are seeing or hearing.
En ArchLinux can be installed from the AURs:
$ yaourt -S exmplayer
o
$ yaourt -S exmplayer-git
But when I run it I get the following error:
Debug: Checking for MPlayer binary ... Debug: Starting mplayer process ... Warning: QMetaObject :: connectSlotsByName: No matching signal for on_sliderSeekFullSc_actionTriggered (int) Debug: "/ tmp" Debug: Config path: "/ home / elav /. config / exmplayer "Debug: Checking for user short cut bindings ... false Debug: Loading shortcut file:" /etc/exmplayer/sc_default.xml "Debug: Checking for deault short cut bindings ... true Debug: KDE detected Debug: System Type "1" Debug: QDBusError ("org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownMethod", "No such method 'Inhibit' in interface 'org.freedesktop.ScreenSaver' at object path '/ ScreenSaver' (signature 'susu') ") Debug: w_width: 600, w_height: 375 Debug: w: 600, h: 375 Segment violation (` core 'generated)
But as I solve the problem, I can install it on any distro based on Ubuntu with the command:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa: exmplayer-dev / exmplayer sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install exmplayer
Although aesthetically it is not a pretty player, we can adjust its appearance by having a Look & Feel such as Gtk +, Aqua, cleanlooks, Windows 95… Etc.
I may have more details, but so far this is what I have been able to see and discover when using ExMplayer. At the moment, I have it as the default video player 😀
I usually use smplayer much more than vlc, but the one you show brings very interesting features, especially; the download of subtitles, in terms of filters for video, the Matrix style comes in handy to generate a wallpaper.
What is not clear to me is whether the error that appears truncates the execution of exmplayer, or is it just a warning.
Greetings.
Both the download of subtitles and the video filters also have SMPlayer.
Thanks for the tip, I was about to install it especially for the subtitle issue, I am going to explore smplayer, more thoroughly.
Greetings.
I use mpv

I get the same error on Kubuntu.
me too
I installed it in ElementaryOS
While I can use it or not, I would be interested to know how MediaCutter works. Do you select a start time and an end time and cut the video alone? Or do you have to do as in VLC, hit the record button and wait for the moment when you want to stop it?
I answer myself: start time and end time, or duration, is defined. If it works as it should and does not lack certain SMPlayer functions (I guess not, using the same Mplayer) it is likely to use it as the default video player. I don't know if it has an Oxygen theme but I would like to.
It should work with older libraries then
It is seen that in Kubuntu it does not work, I am going to uninstall it. A shame…: 0 (
Does watching Katy's video in 3D give you a new "vision"? 😀
Oh yeah !!! xDD
haha!
And is it in gtk or in qt?
Ay Pandev !! If you had read the article correctly you would have found out .. But stop, I'll save your work: Qt
I just usually go over and read the words in bold: p
ah! the old black girl trick! that's why I don't use, but nobody reads you.
Google is like Pandev, that's why you have to use Bold 😀
This video player is really cool. Very similar to VLC.
It's another fork of smplayer. Or at least use much of the smplayer code.
I'm tired of so many forks already.
Hi Ricardo.
Thanks for the SMPlayer (and the SMTube). How do you see integrating the preview in the time bar?
I use the SMPlayer to play Youtube videos and it would be very good for me.
In case someone is interested, with a combination of keys (I actually use a mouse gesture) on a link or YouTube video you can take the address of the video and make it open in the SMPlayer, with the advantages that this entails . Of course, a Firefox add-on would be very nice to do it automatically but I haven't found it.
to try it Thanks:) Extundelete
3D porn is the best 😉
Interesting !, I'll take a look!
