Recientemente the new version of ExTiX 19.3 was released which is a Linux distribution based on Ubuntu and built under a minimal and very light desktop environment (LXQT), which is written in the Qt programming language that has been gaining popularity in recent years.

ExTiX is developed and packaged by developer Arne Exton which one we have already talked here on the blog about another of his works (Android for Raspberry) and it also has many other very good ones for the Raspberry of which I can highlight RaspArch (Arch Linux), RaspEX (Kodi) and FedEX (Fedora).

ExTiX 19.3 Main New Features

With this new release of ExTiX 19.3 distribution was updated to the latest Ubuntu branch that is to say (Ubuntu 19.04 Disco Dingo) and is powered by latest Linux kernel 5.0-exton and includes a wide range of updates.

The kernel variant is called EXTON and it has been specially compiled to provide the system with robustness and efficiency.

Another novelty that we can highlight in ExTiX 19.3 is that now it does not use the LXQT desktop environment, but now it comes with XFCE for a desktop experience that is not very resource intensive and is also easy to use.

Since as its developer comments

Xfce is a lightweight desktop environment for UNIX-like operating systems. Its goal is to be fast and low on system resources, while remaining attractive to the eye and easy to use.

En ExTiX 19.3 we can find Kodi 18.2 Leia since this is pre-installed in this version of ExTiX.
Its developer has enabled some add-ons on Kodi, among which we can highlight the Netflix add-on.

In addition to it also the developer made the decision to implement by default Nvidia 418.43 graphics driver in ExTiX 19.3 which will be used automatically if your computer supports it.

It is also worth mentioning the fact that the ExTiX 19.3 comes with Refracta Snapshot tool pre-installed so that you can build your own live and installable ExTiX / Ubuntu system.

In addition, ExTiX 19.3 uses the universal Calamares graphical installer instead of Ubuntu's Ubiquity live installer.

Arne Exton considers the ExTiX 19.3 release a stable release. Unfortunately for some of you, the operating system only supports 64-bit architecture, mainly because it is designed to be used on high-end computers.

This version of ExTiX 19.3 is designed to be installed on non-UEFI computers.

Finally, of the other programs with which this new version of the distribution is equipped we can highlight YouTube-dl, gimp 2.10, geany 1.33-1, hplip 3.19, Mesa 18.3.4, the Firefox 65 web browser, mpv, smplayer 18.10.0, strace 4.25, VirtualBox 6.0 and the VLC 3.0 media player

Download ExTiX 19.3

If you want to download this new version of the distribution, They will only have to go to the official website of the project and in your download section you can get the download link. The link is this.

ExTiX ISO is ISO-hybrid, this means that it can be easily transferred from a USB memory stick. They can run ExTiX from a USB device and save all system changes to the device.

The downloaded system image can be burned onto a USB stick using the Etcher application or it can also be burned to a DVD.

This distribution can be used in live mode without the need to install anything on your computers.

To do this, they should only use the system access credentials, which are the following:
User: root
Password: live

ExTiX versions support running directly from RAM. Once the system boots, the disc (DVD) or USB memory can be removed.

In order to use the system in this mode, your computer must have at least 3 GB of RAM for this. Running from RAM will make the system run faster than from DVD or USB.
