 A new version of ffmpeg, the powerful libraries for recording, converting and streaming audio and video, introducing important improvements, including support for new video standards.


FFmpeg 0.6 already provides VP8 / WebM support (via the libvpx library) and significantly improves support for H.264 video playback.

En ffmpeg.org it states that "The H.264 and Theora decoders are now noticeably faster and the Vorbis decoder has also seen major updates."

Lastly, there are many improvements that affect the FLAC, Ogg FLAC and Ogg Speex codecs, as well as some hard work on the development optimization for ARM platforms -fact of special importance for users of mobile devices.
