Few days ago the release of the new version of Firefox 79 was presented and along with the ad also it was announced that Firefox version 68.11 for Android will be the latest version on the branch, since in early August, it is planned to transfer gradually users to a new edition, developed under the codename Fenix and tested under the name Firefox Preview.

With which all work done in Firefox 79 for Android moved to the code base of Phoenix. The new edition uses the GeckoView engine, built on the basis of Firefox's Quantum technologies, and a set of Mozilla Android component libraries.

In addition to innovations and bug fixes, Firefox 79 has fixed 21 vulnerabilities, of which 15 are marked as dangerous. 12 vulnerabilities (compiled for CVE-2020-15659) are caused by memory issues such as buffer overflows and access to already freed memory areas. These problems could lead to the execution of malicious code when opening specially crafted pages.

Regarding the novelties that are presented in this new version we can find that password manager has added the ability to export credentials in CSV format.

Another important change is that a setting to enable based on the domain shown in the address bar ("First-party dynamic isolation", when own and third-party inserts are determined based on the site's base domain).

We can also find the improvements in tracking protections that automatically block cookies used by third-party counters. To track sites, Firefox now clears cookies and internal data on a daily basis, according to Disconnect.me's crawler lists.

While for laptops based on AMD chips on Windows 10 platform already have WebRender. On Linux, WebRender is still enabled for Intel and AMD cards only in nightly versions and does not support NVIDIA cards. To force the inclusion in about: config, the settings «gfx.webrender.all "and" gfx.webrender.enabled ".

For Wayland, due to stability problems, the use of the mechanism DMABUF for rendering video to textures is disabled by default. The variable "widget.wayland-dmabuf-video-textures.enabled" is included for inclusion in about: config.

As well highlights the addition of new HTTP Cross-Origin-Embedder-Policy (COEP) headers and Cross-Origin-Opener-Policy (COOP) to enable a special cross-origin isolation mode for safe use on the privileged trading page that can be used to carry out attacks against side channels like Specter.

The mode allows you to isolate the resources associated with the site domain in a separate process, separating them from resources downloaded from other domains.

Y for WebAssembly adds support for memory operations batch (to model memcpy and memmove more efficiently), multithreading (shared and atomic memory), and reference types (externref).
