Firefox will not die ...

Now hundreds of blogs are echoing the news that Google closed his contract with Mozilla, and like nervous old women, they run desperate to emit hasty conclusions. I am not a fortune teller, nor an analyst but let's be serious Who said that Firefox will you die?

More than 80% of income from Mozilla comes from GoogleBut no one spoke of the deal ending in a hurry. So far there has only been talk of a significant reduction in income. Maybe the share that has been hoarding Chrome be the fundamental reason for separating from Mozilla, but from my point of view it would be a very easy exit, a very low blow. It reminds me of Microsoft y Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),, that when it cannot with its enemy then it begins to extract absurd patents. Yes Firefox go dead, Chrome will stop being interesting.

But let's stop speculation and be objective. Mozilla Firefox he has too many followers to die from one day to the next. Even when developers leave the project due to lack of budget, there will always be those who join to continue its development, even if it is a fork under another name. And speaking of Fork, where do we leave Iceweasel e ice cat? Who says yes Firefox dies these projects also go to the grave?

If something good has the Open Source, is that there will always be someone who is interested and continues to contribute Do you remember what happened with OpenOffice.org? Well, there you have a good example: LibreOffice was born to be much better. Maybe this is convenient. Maybe now Firefox become a more community product. That's why I tell you The browser created by Mozilla will not die, in any case, it will evolve for the better.

Mozilla Firefox Has Too Many Followers To Die Overnight

    That says everything

Exact. But there are also the existing Forks.

I had switched to chrome but I did not like it because of the problems with the rendering of sources and that it occupied the official repo and the stable version, as well as a blatant intrusion into your privacy ..

I should never have left my dear iceweasel ...

For you to see .. I like how Chromium renders fonts more ...

And that should be the same or almost ...

What is that about Iron Debian ???

            Ha .. That's SRWare Iron… 😀

I enter less and less, and now only the headline of your post on this topic is a clear example of why.

      You mean, "VeryUbuntu," right, Courage?

I am a person of customs, I have been using (and delighted) Firefox since 1.5 and except for sporadic flirtations with Chromiun and Opera I have always always always used the fire fox. I love it. I don't care about a pepper that takes a little longer to start up, I don't care about a pepper that loads the pages 0.01 thousandths later than others and brings me lazy that consumes a little more memory, I have never noticed that I was missing. Apart from all the addons that I use every day (firebug, stylish, adblock, flashblock, measureit, Colorzilla ...) and that are irreplaceable for me, Mozilla's philosophy has won me over, it and everything that contributes to make the web a freer site (or at least to try to keep it as free as possible, that seeing what is coming is not mucus of turkey).
For all this, I (and I think many others like me) will continue to be faithful to Firefox / Iceweasel / Icecat.

    regards

Hahahahaha yes, I come from there too ... the truth is that every time it leaves more to be desired MuyLinux ... it is worth they may have different opinions from mine, which I completely respect, but it is that sometimes I seem to read stupid things just with the intention of riding chickens in the comments and flamewars. The review they gave to LinuxMint was BOCHORNOSO, saying that they were not going anywhere ... when you see that right now it is (or seems to be becoming) the reference distribution.
Anyway, I think I will soon remove them from my favorites and my feeds. Total in <ºLinux is very agustito lol

The same thing I just said, I reserve my opinion of MuyLinux 🙂
About the Mint 12 review, uff ... no idea, honestly I didn't read it, I'm not a fan of this distro haha. What I do recognize is that they publish several interesting articles, that courtesy does not take away the bravery 😉

Greetings and thanks for the comment, thanks for everything 😀

And I said the same. But I do need to save a bit of RAM. Iceweasel 8 freezes me sometimes, for seconds .. I'm not liking that ... But hey, I don't think such a great project will die.

I think the same ... I am (as elav said in another post) «a creature of habits» ... I got used to using Firefox for years, it just continues to be (with its virtues and defects) my star browser 😀

If they are all a few pts in <° Linux, sorry in MuyLinux.

Fuck you could have already said MuyUbuntu, they don't deserve to be called MuyLinux

      1.    Carlos-Xfce said

Hello, Courage. I just put exactly that in a comment above, referring to you that the real name of that blog should be MuyUbuntu. But I think we should stop commenting on them, lest some of their official or "volunteer" editors (not to call them anything else) later decide to make a post against them. Desdelinux. After all, they don't deserve that much attention. I said.

        1.    Courage said

Well yes, but to criticize them I already have my review made by Loquendo in my old blog haha

I don't think Firefox will die, it just deteriorates more and more.
I mention a lot, "I can't find a difference between FireFox 4 and FF 8" From the performance, memory consumption, its design, NOTHING.

On the other hand, other browsers improve a lot.
Example: Opera: It gets improvements, its design is attractive.
Google Chrome: Nice, fast, a little more professional would be friendly for future versions.

Safari and IE do not convince me.

Nah, it won't die ... Mozilla as such. I still see Firefox online for a couple more years, yes. Many of its accessories are fabulous to go straight away, and they are made by people who know how to take advantage of their time such as People, or other organizations such as delicious that have their bookmarks bar (I use it: B) And as they mention, that's what forks are for (now I went to Iceweasel)

Personally, I did not like Chrome or Chromium precisely because of the add-ons (but I have the second one for angry birds nothing more xD) and I do not go back to the fox because it does not share the Debian philosophy. I wanted to give Midori a chance BUT ... I fatally chrase with youtube on my lap and it doesn't work anymore (it renders the sites half, although it works for me)

I insist, Mozilla as a corporation will not die SO soon, someone else will fund it, I want to think. And with that neither Firefox nor derivatives.

well ... I don't really care ... I stopped using Firefox since it started to consume too many resources and take a long time to load ... I am now testing Opera and it is doing great, and as a secondary browser I use Google Chrome which loads very fast and I will have to kick ... which is a low Google on the part ... but that's the Capitalist Market. If you can extinguish the competition, do it ...
